New X5 50i!

2 weeks in and loving it! 2017 50i w/M Sport Package. I have a 650i as well, but its amazing how much I'm enjoying the SUV. The 445HP V8 twin turbo is great!

Awesome! I love mine. So much torque! I ran an R6 sport bike from a 70 roll and I was on his tail right till throttle cut at around 147mph. He was pounding his helmet in disbelief. Lol

I had a loaner 50i once and it was like a rocket ship. Unbelievable. I can only imagine what the X5M is like.

Sweet ride!
N63TU is a phenomenal engine, my buddy's 550xi ran 1/4 mile 11.5 with ECU Flash from EnzoRacing 2yrs ago and still has the record.
Everytime he sees my X4 m40i he says "Gosh I miss my N63Tu" now that he has RWD S63Tu (PITA to hook and put power down).

Quick question..although BMWs are fun and exciting to drive..but does anyone here constantly worried that something might go wrong with the car in any min? Or it's just me

Couple questions. I'm new to this. Chip sounds exciting. Where do I get this chip and does it void the CPO warranty? I was just thinking about a black kidney grill, but maybe thats too much black. Not sure.

LOL....I have had this feeling with almost EVERY BMW or Mercedes since 1989. ha ha ha

Especially with my '17 X5 40e and my 2010 750i!! 2007 X5 3.0si and 2008 X5 4.8i were beyond dreadful & problematic, almost from day one!

Each start up was kind of a virtual finger cross, hoping for no error warnings or hearing the dreaded bing/gong :-O

r33_RGSport sells it - ask him, he's a trusted seller here. That chip (piggyback) will need to be taken off before a dealer visit to hopefully avoid voiding warranty. Realistically many have done it and avoided issues. However, if dealer wants to they can find out car was tinkered with. Small chance, but it's there

There's also a more complex option - getting a benchflash. It will require your DME (computer) to be taken out of your car and flashed. It's more risky with regard to voiding warranty as you can't revert it back to stock easily like Racechip, but it is a more powerful and proper way of doing tuning IMHO

It's also much more expensive.

I'm not denying that a flash tune is "better" or "more complete", just saying that it is multitudes more expensive. However, you can change other things like traction limits, shifting, etc. DuSh Didnt you have some other parameters modified for different Sport modes?

Yes, I asked Bob at BPC to tinker with shifting a bit and IMHO he did an excellent job. I agree it's more expensive. Overall I think piggyback (Racechip etc) are a easier and more affordable way to go. The only thing is to keep in mind that I know at least 2 forum members who got issues with piggyback (misfires etc). On the positive side - you can always sell piggyback and recuperate money, which you can't do with a benchflash. Always pros and cons

P.S. ironically I'm looking now to add piggyback on top of my flash lol - to squeeze just a bit more boost. I think this will finally kill my N63TU haha and I'll end up with a Beige Corolla for next 5-10 years

I would be very careful here. While adding a piggyback on top of a flash tune will probably work (especially if the flash tune remapped your air/fuel, boost and other tables), the bigger issue is that the vehicle is only programmed with boost tables up to a certain PSI. When you start producing over this level, your going to start getting "bells and lights". Besides, at some point, gaskets and most of your bottom end are going to cry uncle and that fugly corolla will be your new best friend. It will make for some interesting paperweights, though!

Agree, this is too dangerous. I'll probably try to remove weight then. I can swap seats with a Recaro or Momo lightweight seats - that's already a 150lbs weight reduction (those fancy power x5 seats are so heavy man). I'm also thinking to swap X5M air box - maybe that will help a bit (most probably not, but it's cheap - around $90 so worth a try).
I don't want to touch downpipes tho, because of smell, but I envy those who are not as sensitive as me

P.S. OP sorry for highjacking your thread

Air box is the same, just buy the filters. There's a thread about this on the F85 forum.

Your not going to want to swap seats when you realize how many airbags you will be removing. I doubt the ECU will like this. Besides, nothing aftermarket will match the factory interior. And they may be heavy, but damn are they comfy. If your really serious about weight savings, save your money for the next model due out shortly!
