CA Driver side gone bad

My driver side door Comfort Access (CA) has gone bad on my 2014 X5. It no longer unlocks the door when I grab the handle and the LED light does not come on anymore. I am still able to unlock and lock the door with the key. All other doors work fine except the driver side. I was quoted by the local BMW Dealership on how much it will cost and they estimated that it will be a $1100-$1200 repair. My question is, is there a DIY on how to fix this?

Thanks in advance!
Jeffrey

Sorry, this happened to 2 of my door handles on my 2010 750i. Two, at the same time. Oh, and the car had 500 miles on it, less than a month old :-O

I am bringing it to a BMW Certified shop tomorrow. They quoted me $350 for repair. We will see, hopefully they can fix it.

UPDATE:

I took the car in today and got a call back from the shop. They took the handlebar apart and found out that it was not plugged in. I'm assuming the owner before us had some work done on the door and forgot to plug it back in. The shop charged me $225 to plug it back in and put everything back with new clips.

Glad it was a simple fix. Your original post made it sound like it was working fine and then went bad all of a sudden vs you just recently buying the car with CA not working on the one handle.

Yea a bit pricey but it's def better than 1,200. I liked the fact that being a first-time customer that he was honest about what they discovered. It was a simple fix yet he could have said something else to make me pay more. Anyway, maybe I'm thinking too much. Just glad it's over and fixed.

Sorry about not being too detailed about it. I always hated writing. Anyway, I'm glad it was a simple fix also.
