Dash Compass

X5 has been great. Not a single issue so far. Successfully coded most of the things I wanted. One outstanding thing I would like to change (probably not a coding thing) is to make the compass stay when I restart the car per the picture below. Any thoughts on how to accomplish this? Thanks in advance for the help.

If you shut it off with the display set that way, it 'should' stay. I'll test mine tonight on my way home from work. I usually have mine set for either kms to empty or instant l/100, and it retains the previous setting following a key cycle.

It does not stay active even if one shuts off the engine with the compass visible. I have switched to using one of the shortcut keys for a compass.

sadly that does not work. i have been trying to make the compass the default screen from jump street and no luck. i would LOVE for this to be a coding issue so it could be permanent but as of right now nobody (that i have spoke with) knows of a way.

That is disappointing. How did you set the shortcut. I was not able to figure that out either.

I am talking about the shortcut keys that most of us use for radio and nav settings. The instructions are in your manual and can be easily found on YouTube but it is not a complicated affair.

Edited to add link to BMW video about memory buttons:

I figured that was what you meant. I have several of the buttons programmed to control the radio, phone etc. I was not able to get it to control something on the dash though.
