bolts

Just gearing up for my summer wheels with 20mm spacers.

Which bolts go with the 20mm spacers for the rear?

And what about the wheel locks if you replace the bolts? Do you need to buy new ones?

Thanks

You will need a 20mm longer bolt than the stock.
Unfortunately, I don't think there is any wheel locks available in 20mm longer than stock.

Does anyone even run wheel locks anymore? I haven't bothered...maybe its where I park, or don't park I guess.

Some does.
Especially those who park on the street overnight.

Thanks Ben.

My vehicle came with wheel locks so I kept them. The only time it caused an issue was when i brought my car in to swap to my winter setup and the dealer forgot to put the wheel lock key in the car.

If you put on a spacer, that wheel locks is most likely will be too short.
But yea, forgetting the key is not fun.

For my 25 mm rear spacers, they came with short bolts to attach the spacer to the hub, then use stock bolts to attach wheel to spacer. So in this case you could use stock length wheel locks if I desired.

Yes, if you are on the adapter design, then you can re-use the locks.

I'd only run those adapters if you're changing bolt patterns to run a different wheel. If the bolt pattern isn't changing, that's some unnecessary weakness IMO. Just my .02.

Extended bolts need on the 5mm set up or does the 8mm+ rule hold with this vehicle as well?

Car is heavier, I do suggest get longer lug bolt even for 5mm spacer.

I would still run longer lug bolts for 5mm+

15/20 won't work on later production X5/X6.

He may need to double check.
Take off the front wheel again and see.

Hi, I'm on your site trying to order the spacers for a 17 X6M. I haven't read the entire thread but I'm assuming you're still recommending 5mm front and 15mm rear? And there are two lug options for the 5mm and I don't understand what the difference is ... could you tell me which one I want? Thanks.

Yes, I do recommend 5mm front and 15mm rear.
The lug bolt thread for all the F chassis BMW is 14x1.25.
