How much should I be paying for a good deal...
hello bimmer gurus,
I am new to this forum. I'm looking to purchase a new 2017 bmw x5 xdrive35i. I live in the sacramento region but have been expanding my searches in the bay area bmw dealerships as well. I may be configuring and building my own vehicle since I can't locate one matching my exact preference. Here are my packages and options: http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/conte...&CMId=d84ffuth Base MSRP: 57,800 Alpine White Black dakota leather: 1450 M sport Package :3550 Rear view camera: 400 mutli contour seats: 950 20" double spoke wheels: 950 Harmon Kardon surround system: 875 Total built including destination fee: 66, 970 From buying experiences, how much should I be paying for this built so I know if I am getting a good deal. Also keep in mind, a new X5 body style will be coming out end of 2017 or beginning of 2018 so am I able to throw this in as part of the negotiating process? Any other tips/guidance are very much appreciated. |

From what I've seen from U.S buyers, they usually aim for 7-8% off MSRP. As for the new X5, dealers will most likely tell you that the new body won't be at dealers until early 2019. The G05 X5 is coming out by mid-end 2018.
You could get better pricing on a 2016 X5 since dealers will be looking to clean up inventory for the 2017 models. Biggest change is the new idrive and touch screen. |

From my buying experience I aimed for 8-10% for existing stock, on the higher end for end of year models (ie: for you it would be MY2016 model), so you may be able to get higher configuration for your dollar.
In the end I was able to get about 11% throwing in dealer installed hitch since it was minimal cost to them, felt like good value to me. I was also only interested in the 50i, but I was okay with going a bit off what I wanted and I was willing to settle for MY2015 model (I bought end of September, so MY2016 was already available). I don't think playing the outgoing model card will work since it's still rumors at this point, but I agree the 7-8% is definitely doable. I think you can probably get value added stuff like rubber mats, boot liner, battery tender, etc. stuff you would have bought anyways.
