Debating about the MPPK though.....It's a nice bump, but not sure if the power will be noticeable or not on a two and a half ton SUV. I'm sure the throttle response will be better, so maybe.

Skipping the M Performance exhaust? It sounds great!
@ Alan I. and @ twelve535i what is the M Sport with MPPK tune? Can you provide more details? Is this an aftermarket tune or is it something you can order directly from BMW when ordering your F15 M Sport?

Here's all the info you would need to know about the MPPK tune. This is a BMW Factory Tune to increase the overall performance of the X5 35i only. You can have your dealer add it to your build.

As mentioned by a few people, the tune has to be underrated. No way 20hp is taking 0.5 seconds off 0-62 time.

I agree. For me having a sporty throttle response is much more important than peak HP because I am not flooring it light to light. My 550 is a lot faster than my 535 but the way it delivers power is different. There is this initial lag that my 535 didnt have which i didn't like. Granted once the 550's turbos spooled up it took off like bat out of hell I still preferred the way my 535 felt on initial take off.

Alan, you might be slightly disappointed with the F15... the 535i you had was hauling several hundred pounds lighter than the F15 35i. What was the 0-60 time for your 535i? mid 5 seconds? The F15 35i is rated at 6 seconds.

However, the F15 35i is a lot faster than my previous E70 35i so I am happy with it.
I am thinking about adding a BMS tune to beef up the power in mine.

^^ fully expecting my F15 to be no where near my F10 levels which is fine. Its my family hauler which looks cool at the same time. Glad to hear the F15 35i is quicker than the E70 35i.

Alan, I feel like I was just reading about your F10 upgrade. How long has it been?

I agree with your choice, by the way. My first BMW was a 2001 E53 X5. It was fantastic, but once it approached 100,000 miles I fell in love with a sport package E60 and had that for many years. I jumped into an F10 a little too quick after that one, without driving much else, and now as my girls get older and we spend more and more time driving in and out of the mountains on weekends I feel the SUV world calling me back in.

Although the F10 is a lease, I'm more of a CPO guy. Another 15 months to go - after this lease that I may see if I can slide into a CPO F15 diesel for a change, or maybe try a Cayenne S a couple years older. I just can't brave an E70 V8 after all these stories.

I look forward to seeing your F15 when it comes in. You do a nice job with the mods.

^^ Hey!

CPO is the smartest way to go financially. Just make sure you get the latest MY F15 when time comes. I feel like every BMW has its issues during launch it takes them awhile before things are fully sorted out. I thought about going with the F15 before my 550 but i specifically didn't because i wanted to avoid the first batch of cars coming off the assembly line. Based on some of the issues here that seemed like the right call.

I never really fell in love with either of my F10's. Beautiful cars to look at, very fast (550) but something was always missing. It wasn't a sporty drive nor was it roomy so it didn't really work for my family. Like you now what my daughter is getting older we plan to take her out on my outdoor trips and having the extra storage/trunk space of an SUV is priceless.

The F10 really is an odd car. It's one of the prettiest sedans they've ever built. Mine has seemed more rigid and solidly built than any other car I've owned. But for all that, it's not much fun at all compared to either of my previous BMWs. It has the strangest turn-in; the car very briefly feels like it would really rather keep going straight and then finally agrees to duck its shoulder in a bit. It's no Barry Sanders. I have to believe that although BMW's sales leadership may like the car well enough, their engineers see it as having missed the target.

The N55 is a pretty amazing engine. Even at 6 seconds, the X5 3.0 is one of the fastest SUVs in the class. I think adding the MPPK is a great cost compromise against the V8 X5, which seems to be way more expensive the way I build them.

Just got word that my X5 is on the truck and should be arriving any day now. Hopefully i get to pick it up this Saturday or Monday at the very latest

Pray they don't have any issues programming the MPPK software.

I can't compare to some of you crazy modders on this forum anymore. With the second kid around the corner, first one going to private school....wife has a tight leash on my modding addiction now lol (somewhat )

Well another part just came in from Tischer BMW. I can't say enough nice things about Evan and his team over there. The first CF lip came with a strange hazing on the clear coat....they sent me another lip before me even sending the 1st one back!

Another update - My X5 is at the dealer!!!!!

MPPK installed and verified by the power meter screen going from 320/320 to show 400/400

I guess i don't get the fancy badge under the hood when the dealer installs it for you prior to delivery? Doesn't matter either way

Scheduled pickup tomorrow afternoon!

Black tips with the performance exhaust should do the trick

MPPK is a no brainer to me. A lot of people try to bag on it due to the cost to performance ratio comparing it to the JB but what they don't realize is that its not just about the peak power with this MPPK tune. Improved throttle response, exhaust note, transmission shift logic and other parameters are all altered making for a much more sporty drive. NO piggyback will offer you that. All they do is give you a jumpy throttle response with high peak horsepower. I've had experience with almost all JB products, Proceed, Cobb Accessport in my last 3 BMW so i know what they are capable of. Nothing beats a good flash tune simply because piggybacks just can't access/alter those other areas. I recently just removed my JB tune from my 550 and it reconfirms all of this. While my car doesn't have the same peak power numbers it drives so much smoother.

Check out what Steve Dinan says about there MPPK dyno findings. Its highly underrated. Also check out his video about how the dinantronics works in comparison to other piggybacks. I'm far from a Dinan lover in the past and I never liked their products but the Dinantronics seems like the best solution if you care about driveability and not just about peak numbers.

Going with a different route with the exhaust. If i am spending money on an exhaust i want it to atleast look different. Wish the MP Exhaust had unique tips....not just the stock msport looking tips that they want $300 for.

lol i know. Lucky selling off the parts off the F10 is covering most of the F15 mods so the wife doesn't care even though i have all these boxes showing up to my house . Now when it comes to wheels...... that will have to hold off for a bit. Need to pick up snow tires for the stock 20"s in the fall and I will get some 21's or 22's next spring.
