Altering Production Build Codes After Order

All -
Searched the forums but there is a lot of noise. Probably re-circulating a new thread but what the hell.

How long do you have to alter a build after the order is placed? Is there a certain build status that freezes the order etc.? Ordered a 50i but may want to make a minor change and my vehicle is still in "Order Documented" (step 1). Thanks All.

You should still be able to make changes up to the point where you are issued a VIN and the vehicle enters production. Your dealer should be able to provide you a build week, which is more or less the specific time your X5 is scheduled for production, which will give you an idea of how much time you have.

You can change up until the car enters status 111. This is the point where BMW orders parts from suppliers for you particular car. For us, this was about 2 weeks before the car enter production. Once you are in 111, no modifications are possible.

Technically its till the day they start building your wiring harness, since its custom to a VIN.
