Acoustic pedestrian protection S4U9A=Yes
My 2016 F15 has this option (well, it's on the build sheet. I haven't actually seen it).
Acoustic pedestrian protection S4U9A When is it activated, what does it sound like, can it be disabled? |

Just start the car without the ICE, you'll hear it running. Sounds sort of like a ufo whirring.
It's a legal thing - so that people can hear the car coming when the ICE isn't running, I guess people at some point were getting run over by electric vehicles and sued. gwes |

also found on hybrids,
I removed it from my wife's Prius, you can remove it, unplug it, or disable it via codding

Remember if you remove it, and some idiot runs into your car (and clearly their fault) it could become your liability.

On the 40e it’s so quiet that, while in the car, unless you have the windows down and are in an enclosed space you wouldn’t be able to hear it. Not only that, but when the car is moving you’d never hear it - the speaker faces forward and the wheels make more noise contacting the road than this thing does.
You can either remove it by coding or unplug it - or get something like this - you won’t be able to hear it at all. |
