Order Placed for 2015 X5 50i - Questions about Options, including Harmon Kardon, etc.

I just placed an order for a 2015 X5 50i with the following options.

My X5 xDrive50i
BASE MSRP - $69,100
M Sport - $3,500
Alpine White - $0
Black Dakota Leather - $0
Aluminum Hexagon interior trim - $0
Cold Weather Package - $550
Driver Assistance Plus - $1,900
Lighting Package - $1,900
3rd row seat + rear axle air suspension - $1,700
Rear manual side window shades - $250
Destination & Handling: $950

Total MSRP as Built $79,850

I wanted to include the Harmon Kardon stereo in my build, but I was told that I had to get the Executive Package for $4,800 to include the HK stereo!

Can the HK be ordered separately without having to add the Executive Package? If so, how much is that option, and does it include Sirius Satellite Radio and HD Radio?

I have also read mixed reviews on this forum regarding the Comfort Rear Seat option. My build includes the 3rd Row Seating, which I know is going to be of limited use, but it's something we want for those few occasions when we have kids in the 2nd row and a small adult needs to squeeze back there.

Does the Comfort Seat option provide the ability to slide the 2nd row seats forward and backwards? If so, when it's in it's furthest back position, is the leg room between the 1st and 2nd row seats increased over the standard rear seat?

The MSRP of my car comes in at $79,850, and the dealership is selling the car at $74,260. Is this a good deal?

I will be leasing the car fro 36 months with 12,000 miles per year. With my local taxes, including my up front costs of $2,834.64, my monthly payments come to $1,011.36.

I wanted to add the BMW Performance Parts to my build, including the Carbon Fiber Front Splitter, and the Carbon Fiber Rear Diffuser, but I was told that both of these parts could not be residualized on the X5 lease. I will likely buy them directly and add them after the car has been delivered. I can always remove them from the car and sell them before the car is turned back at the end of the lease.

I appreciate any thoughts and feedback regarding my build, the price and the questions I have regarding the HK and Comfort Seats.

Thanks so much!

Take that back..looking at my build sheet, included in ZEC which is the Exec pack. My bad. I have the exec pack, think there is solid content for the money...go for it! Doesn't appear to be an a la carte option for the stereo...B&O requires ZEC as well, albeit at a substantial premium. You are already wanting the shades, as well as some willingness to pay for the stereo as a standalone ($875 on the 35i). If you are mulling over the comfort rear seats and have a 3rd row spec'd, I am assuming you expect consistent passenger time back there. The included 4 zone climate may therefore have merit. I don't have rear comfort seats, but maybe dump that thought and subsidize the exec pack with those $? Good luck..always hard to manage options and the value proposition for the incremental $. BTW...the leather dash looks great :-)

Your deal looks solid. I did slightly better in actual $ off, but I had a higher MSRP. % wise, you are better off.

I am not 100% sure the comfort 2nd row is standard with the third row but the ability to flip, slide back and forth, and adjust the angle of the second row comes std with the 3rd row option. I have not looked close enough to see the exact differences between comfort 2nd row and 2nd row w/ 3rd row option.

I have had the 3rd row option on my 07, 11, 12 e70 and with kids it gets it's fare share of use. Great when you have to take your kids and friends some place or when the grandparents are in town. We have had an 11 and 9 year old in the back for 3 1/2 hours and they loved it.

Thanks guys.

Pretty hard to believe that the Harmon Kardon isn't a standalone option and that you must get the $4,600 Executive Package to get it.

How is the standard stereo? I assume it's halfway decent. The dealer told me they can add Satellite Radio to the standard stereo system for $600 as a dealer installed item.

I can't swing the additional $4,600 and I don't think there are options I can remove to offset the overall price. Guess I'll have to live with the standard stereo.

Regarding the Comfort Seats, it's very good to know that when you get the 3rd Row option, that the 2nd row seats then have the ability to slide forward and back. That makes sense and is reassuring. I won't be going for the Comfort Seats.

Is the Leather Dash a standard feature on the 50i, or is it an option? Do you have to get the Nappa Leather to get the Leather Dash? I had the Leather Dash on my X6 50i, and it was very nice. I also currently have the full leather interior on my Panamera GTS, and it looks great. Would love to have it on the new X5, but I have to keep the overall lease price to around $1000/month because it's a business lease vehicle.

Any other options I should consider modifying? My order was placed yesterday. The dealer told me my car was going to be a "1-12 Build". I'm not exactly sure what that means, but they told me to expect a delivery around mid February. Does this sound about right?

Anyone have the Performance Package items on an Alpine White X5? Front Splitter, Rear Diffuser?

If you have kids, get the 3rd row. It is invaluable. We use it all the time. The 3rd row does add the comfort option, I believe. As we can change the angle of the 2nd row recline.

I would adaptive M suspension ($900) which is a big plus over standard one.

Can someone confirm if the Harmon Kardon can be added by itself without the executive package?

-HK cannot be ordered without Executive. Cannot be added on after the fact either.
-Satellite radio can be installed at the port. It's usually around $400-$600 and includes 1 year for free
-Comfort rear seats are included with your car if you order third row seating.
-Leather dashboard is standard on the 50i. No need to order nappa leather or executive package to get it.

Personally, I'd get rid of the lighting package and get the executive. I had the lighting package on my F10 and while it looked nice and cool, it's not $1900 better than the standard adaptive xenons. The automatic high beam feature is not very useful either. The M-adaptive suspension is also very nice for only $900.

Sidenote as most people don't know this - if you get executive package, the ivory or mocha nappa design packages get reduced from $1950 to $750.

Great choice with the 50i, it's going to be a blast to drive!

According to the official 2015 pricing guide, Harmon Kardon is only available through the Executive Package on the 50i. On all the other trims it's simply an option. It sucks how bmw tries to nickel and dime us with these all inclusive packages. I bet once the new/hot factor wears off, they'll start untangling it and allowing us to order some of the popular options individually. I have the Harmon and it sounds great. I haven't compared to stock, but most reviews I've read said it makes a noticeable difference and is well worth it. Of course, most of those reviews were likely by people who at least had the option to pick it up for cheap.

In terms of the Comfort Rear Seat, you do not gain any space by sliding it the furthest back. At the furthest back it is simply just like an X5 without the option. It reclines a bit and can give a little more space to the 3rd row or trunk depending on where you set it.

Regarding residualizing M Performance Parts, as far as I know this is possible if the parts are port-installed. Bmw has a Port Installed Accessories (PIA) program but when I ordered a few months ago, my SA said this program was on-hold and not currently available for the F15. Being able to get the parts port installed makes a whole lot of financial sense but based on my experience and what I've ready, they're just not doing it now. Dealers don't like the hassle either, they prefer you buy the parts form them at full price rather than adding it into your lease.

Congrats on your order!

In Canada,35i and 50i require Prem pkg $4500 to get HK, no standalone option.

For USA (as others above stated) : avail as stand alone $875 on 35i only. For 50i need the Exec pkg to get HK.

Since USA will allow HK as stand alone on 35i, did you ask your dealer/BMW USA about adding on 50i as Special Order/SO. If so the extra cost for SO is $300 to $400 on top of $875.

Good luck, 50i and HK are great.

Thanks guys. I don't think I'll be able to keep my lease price at $1,000/month and also get the Executive Package. I may have to live without the HK.

Another question.....

I ordered the Driver's Assistance Plus option. Does this include the Active Cruise Control which allows the car to take over when driving in traffic to maintain a distance to the car in front of you?

I see that the ACC option is $1,200 and the Driver's Assistance Plus option is $1,900. What is the difference???

DA+ includes surround view, lane departure warning and low speed collision prevention and blind spot warning. ACC maintains safe distance when u r on cruise control

There may be some other small additional features.

ACC is a standalone feature that can only be ordered if you have drivers assistance plus. It is $1200 in addition to the $1900 drivers assistance plus package
