Electrical & Air Suspension Compressor Wizz - Burnt compressor - twice :-(
Hi guys,
My 2014 M Sport 40D F15's stock compressor died a week back. Heard it pumping away after turning off the engine one evening, the next day rear was low. Garage checked compressor: couldn't get any current through the compressor. So I felt no point in investigating the desiccant issue, deciding to get a new compressor plugged in instead. I still have the old one with me. We also checked the suspension airbags: no apparent leak. After compressor instal, we ran checks and looked at error messages: nothing showed up, so I drove off. 72 hrs later, I hear the new compressor running wild again whilst parked after I turned off the engine. Within 10mins, heard the compressor "clunk" and sure enough, the fuse blew out. Within 3hrs, the rear was down. I'm awaiting fuses coming in later today, I have a second replacement compressor and so far one Arnott bag (awaiting the second to arrive), but am concerned something is telling the compressor to work frantically until it blows out. I've searched for the X5 F15 equivalent parts in this video, but am struggling to get confirmation there are such devices on my vehicle: Any help, would be extremely welcomed Last edited by tgml69; 05-12-2022 at 05:58 AM.. |

Check for leaking or cracked fittings or damaged air lines, I believe red is left and blue goes to the right and they're one piece with no breaks from the valve block all the way to the respective bags. Did you remove the bags to inspect them or just a outer visual inspection? if you haven't taken the bags out to inspect, I can almost bet $$ that its the bags. Where they crease and fail can't be seen while they're on the vehicle.
I also highly doubt that the compressors actually failed, especially not the new one within a few days. |

Thanks - will do
What is the explanation in your opinion that no current could go through the first compressor? NB: jury's still out on the second, new one: awaiting fuse to come in and will update. |
