I cancelled my order for the OE winter set. Was promised "mid Jan", but I am still without a solid ETA, so I decided to throw on a set of DWS06s (which are also getting scarce). Not happy about it- but couldn't have my wife riding around on summer rubber all winter.

So I think I have the part numbers figured out. Reading through the thread there was definitely some part number confusion as I came across three different sets.

These are the 20" 611M in dark grey for winter tires only as per BMW's bulletin:
36-11-2-365-424
36-11-2-365-425

These are 20” 611M you can get instead of the 21” 612M when ordering, they are not meant for the winter tire package and were improperly listed in ETK for a time.
36-11-2-349-640
36-11-2-349-641

These are the Canadian part numbers for the winter tire set.
36-11-2-289-835
36-11-2-289-836

If any of this is off please correct it.

Very cold with some ice on the roads. So far so good but won't get a chance to test it until this weekend when we supposed to get 3-5 in of snow. Already clear that it is a world of difference compared to my M5 with snow tires.
Those look good in the rear- any shots from further out? Any idea what the offset is? Is the hub size the same?

Don't blame you at all. I was told when I received my set that I was really lucky by the BMW parts guy, as they had to proactively cancel a number of other sets on order as nothing was available. Even worse, BMW wasn't telling them what had/hadn't been shipped. I'm sure the DWS will be fantastic. And you'll save a bunch of cash too...

Yea- I think DWS06 will be fine, though they look less snow friendly than the DWS (a trade off for better dry grip/longevity).

I may consider ordering a proper winter tire for next year as I suspect this size/tire with low miles will be an easy to sell to the F15 crowd.

Take a look:

I haven't been able to find Pirellis winters in 21" stock sizes anywhere in the US. If you have a lead, it would be greatly appreciated.
Got them from tirerack months ago. Learned my lesson a few years back waiting until winter to buy winter tires.

Thanks PP. Lesson learned for me too. I saw the Pirellis back in October but I was debating a full winter set up then in either 20" or 22". Then I got distracted after I got the car in December and had 60F + days.

AMEX Concierge is now scouring the US for a set of Pirellis but I will likely pull the trigger on a tire/wheel set up in 20" from Tire Rack.

Oddly enough- moments before the DWS06s were going to be mounted- my winter set arrived at the dealer. I'll post pics in the am.

Sweet! Well, the upside now is you've got a 2nd set of wheels, which I prefer as I just garage them and swap them myself at home, when I want. At least you'll be ready if/when a decent snowfall ever hits...

Here are some pictures. Sorry the car is dirty.

I think the offsets are 40 in the front and 37 in back.

Did they have to bore the hub in back?

No. It was a direct fit. No modifications necessary.

Thanks!

I got my wheels in March 2015, but I heard that they are hard to come by now this far into the season. I would suggest contacting your BMW parts department.

Early December. I've been told it was one of the last sets that will be delivered before spring.

For what it's worth the OEM winter sets seem to be arriving about 4 weeks after the order is placed. Got mine in last week.
