Why is this an available thread? How can somebody compare a car with another one which hasn't yet been released. It's like saying "my boy is better than your unborn boy"

I think that's actually a very eloquent summary of why this thread exists, too |

PDCC, PTV, and pneumatic suspension combine to produce incomparable handling. In an ideal world I would have both cars I suppose, but I'd make my wife drive the M.

Is either the 2015 Turbo S or the X5m available with 3rd row seats?

No third row for the X5M, not sure about the Cayenne.

I agree that it comes down to a matter of preference. The upmarket audio in both is comparable (I have both the B&O (M6 GC) and the Burmeister (911S cab)) ..exceptional for us audiophiles.
As the X5M is for my wife, the decision in the end came down to her subjective views and some features the BMW has that Porsche doesn't (they are indeed both superb cars). In the HUD and superior SatNav (BMW has surface street traffic) for LA won the day for her. We luckily have access to a number of performance cars and the X5M fills our SUV needs the best |

Op have you considered the Range Rover Sport Supercharged?
The new one comes with HUD etc. Not sure how all the other techs compare. Pretty sure handling won't against the Turbo but it's the only one of the 3 that has 3rd row seats for kids.

Didn't know that gender had anything to do with driving ability but hey I'm just a simple boy from oz ... We are empty nesters so no need for anything like a 3rd row - X5 is much more prefered to a RR. We had got down to the X5 and Cayenne |

It's not as much about the 550+hp, as much as the brakes the handling, etc... It's the overall package. And it's a safe car. Just because it's pretty quick and fast, doesn't mean it can't be driven responsibly. That car corrupts any type of driver in terms of future expectations of what an SUV/SAV is capable of doing. It's all in good health.

Really struggling with my choice to buy a 2016 Cayenne GTS over the new X5m. With options they both end up being almost identical in terms of price. The BMW wins on speed and electronics and I am sad to not get a HUD or I-drive. I have test drove all the x5 models besides the M and none really held up to the Porsche in terms of driving dynamics. Also think the interior and seats may go to the Porsche. But paying the same price for something almost a second slower to 60 (4.0 vs 4.8) seems a bit silly.
The gas mileage has to be a bit better with the Porsche but that is low on my priority list. Am I crazy to pick the Porsche GTS over the X5m if they are the same price? |

Sir, you have stable of cars worth 600k++ in just cars, if that's not balling I don't know what is....... Do you own a boat? Or a 85 foot dingy as you would possibly discribe it. Sorry off topic but just curious

5 thousand dollar difference and yes I know spec wise the Turbo or Turbo S are more in line with the X5M but with options the price difference is crazy.
Been waiting 4 months for the GTS and I assumed the X5M would be out of my price change and it turns out it is a bit cheaper optioned out. The gadget and spec guy in me wants the the BMW and the visual oriented and driver in me want the Porsche plus the wife calls the X5 a box. Can't really test drive either one of these cars so its all sort of a roll of the dice for me and I am sure either way I will end up with by far my best car yet. |
