That Navi screen looks terrible.
Why they don't hide the screen nice in the dash instead of planting it like an off-market navigation.
It is ugly, bold and not practical.
Make it likein the X1 at least, show some flow....

Also notice that the U.S. will get a rear drive (F15) X5 interesting to see how it does in the marketplace.
A friend of mine worked with the marketing department of one of the big Japanese car companies. His boss told him that ~90% of the "spy shots" and videos you see on the internet are purposely leaked by the car company itself. There's no better way to generate interest for an upcoming model than the free press that surrounds these shots.

Unfortunately, this round of X5 will be ugly. BMW insisted to have the headlights united with the grille and this is just ugly, including on the F30 3-series, but especially on the new X5. On the other hand, the new 2-series abandons this trend so maybe BMW realized that it's just not a great design feature.

Am sure it will be available, what worries me is when? If not available from start of production and I order the car and see an article that it is coming I will be very upset of course.

It is a great feature, but have not seen it in any info. I obtained EURO info on the new X5 with all the options, no mention of MFID.

Why are the speedo and tach and instrument numbers red in one pic and white in the other? If they get rid of red instruments I won't buy it

On my vehicle, the instrument colors change with the lighting...at night, they are red, in the day, they are white.

I agree with you 100% but the reality is i have yet to see ONE x5/x6M with swapped out winter tires and i live in the northeast. Anyway my point is that these suv's are not specifically built for off road purposes, they are built for and used on the road 99% of its life which makes sense that there would be a rwd option

LOVE IT! Baby F15, come out already. I am dying to see this thing in Black and/or Sparkling Brown, white interior, and want to get the specs on that beautiful engine.

Well I swapped out rims and tires and kept the original sizing for my winter set. They worked great. Had two storms with greater than 8 inches of slush and snow. X5M trucked on thru like it was clear roads.

Honestly, have you not seen this design direction coming? It's the same way in the 3, the 6, the 6GC and now the X5. Soon they will all be like that.

It does have a lot of benefits. It allows you to have a much lower beltline for the dash. Allows a lot more design flexibility.

I have seen it in the 3 series and I don't like it. It just looks bad and instead of having a flow with the rest of the curves, there it is, a little brick sticking out from the dash. It is even hard to clean behind it, a perfect space to collect dust. It is even easier to damage it.
My wife likes the Mini hates the interior gauges and the design. So am I.
3 Series, same story, we both hate the navigation so we bought the X1.

Mercedes has a similar approach and it looks absolutely grotesque, I hate it with passion. Is like it was installed by me and you after-market in my garage.

If that is the direction, I love the BMW but I don't know if I will swallow this one. I must love the car I am driving, or for me the interior is very important. I don't see the design flexibility. I mean flexibility for what? What else needs to be installed there and the Navigation does not permit? Look at other manufacturers, they are doing it great. There are many options that the interior design can embrace and from all of them they choose this...

Exactly. I'm always amazed the amount of people that would prefer more of the same. The current idrive screen in the e70 with that hideous bezel looks like something from the 90s.

So, Mercedes has the same, BMW goes the same aren't you in that category of people that "prefer more of the same" as well?
It is the same concept. The new one is just something new for you but I personally consider that everything should be as compact and as integrated as possible. Would you buy an Ipad that has a camera sticking out of the body like a snail eye? Just asking. This is how it looks for me.
What's next? In order to obtain that "design flexibility" that you guys are talking about we will stick out the odometer too?
Really?

Don't be amazed about what people think. So far, nobody I know (and I have a lot of friends with BMW) love that screen. From twenty people that I know they "accepted" or "swallowed" this screen because of the car, and they "learned to live with it". So, it is a compromise.
Be open, "the beauty is in the eye of the beholder".
Soon, this design will be obsolete too. Take my word for it.
And one more thing, even if it looks old for you, not everything that is new is beautiful. The fact that you got used or bored it doesn't mean is ugly.

I bet some people will like this interior...

My Euro dealer tells me he has some photos showing MFID in the new 2014 X5, he will double check and let me know.
