Not sure if it's been said or updated but my local coder had sorted out the new software update for me and now I have all of my original codes including iDrive codes back on the X5

Sorry I'm not too "word appropriate" when speaking of this

That's one of those cases I've mentioned earlier - when the car needs 15-30 min sleep time.

Did you code it Armen?
I am not sure about this "drl_s (100% parking light brightness), tfl_s (50% parking light brightness)", what value to use?

I didn't as the way I drive most people don't care if I have tail lamps on or off during the day ("*wooooosh sound* - Honey, what was that black car at the horizon?!")

Answering your question: it should be in drl_s already in TFL_MODUS. It's the MAPPING* values that actually do the trick. If (after coding) you won't like the way it looks (i.e. too bright), you can go for tfl_s. But since you want tail-lamps on with DRLs in the front anyway - I think "the brighter the better" would be your obvious choice

I did it!!!
Was on Cyprus several time last year(even this one) did not see any Roads to drive fast, so believe you have to have very good brakes

All coding done on my april build X5.

Many thanks to Skalberti, Opasha and Shawnsheridan for all the guidance and files.

The only thing I didn't code yet is the enhanced Bluetooth function. Was that on the cheat sheet?

I do not know if it is on Cheat Sheet, but it is like this:

http://f30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...65&postcount=9

In case of F15, just add 6NS as there is no 6NH to replace.

It should, I believe opasha added it into my cheatsheet.
I will look at it when I have time and update it.
Since I let opasha and skalberti maintain the cheatsheet, I haven't check on it since,

Has anyone noticed that for VLD coding the values shown on the cheat sheet is different?

For the first line of code LUT FLC FORWORD LIGHTING I only have two options to choose from. F015 Codierwert, F025 Codierwert, and it was originally set to I001 Codierwert ohne AFS. What's shown on the cheat sheet isn't there for me.

The second line to code was there though.

Why FDL Code it? This should be straight VO Coding.

I guess i am confused as to how to do VO coding and its difference from FDL coding. Could you explain exactly how to do this? I didn't do any harm by Fdl coding this ?

For VO Coding you select the ECU itself, not the CAFD File.

VO = Vehicle Order

VO Code = Coding of all FDL's (100% of the ECU) to predetermined settings based on the Vehicle Order.

Connect => Read FA (VO) => Activate FA (VO) => Read SVT (VCM) => Right-Click on ECU (the ECU itself not the underlying CAFD) => Select CODE.

FDL = Function Data Line

FDL Code = Coding of individual FDL's in an ECU, overriding the VO Coding.

Connect => Read FA (VO) => Activate FA (VO) => Read SVT (VCM) => Right-Click on the ECU CAFD and select Read Coding Data => Expand the CAFD Folder by clicking + symbol => Right-Click on the CAFD file and select Edit => Edit CAFD as desired => Click the Blue Floppy Disc Icon to Save CAFD => Click the green back arrow icon => Right-Click on the CAFD file => Select FDL CODE.

Thanks for the explanation Shawn.

I coded a bunch of stuff last night all FDL. Should they have been done via VO coding instead? It's mostly the usual thing I coded on the cheat sheet. (Disclaimers, key fob control, splash screens etc)

Well, VLD also can be done by FDL coding. But since it can be VO code, it is much better since it didn't get reset when dealership update the firmware.

No. 98% of most everything codeable must be FDL Coded, as they are not controlled by VO Option Codes.. Things like Anti Dazzle / VLD lighting and Enhanced Bluetooth, that are controlled by Option Codes should be VO Coded.

Many many thanks again to Shawnsheridan and Skalberti for helping me out last night. I had a big scare while trying to VO code last night and accidentally coded the entire folder with the car running. Lost all of my previous coding which isn't a big deal but I had a dme error afterwards which these guys helped me resolve. Both called me back within minutes!

NEVER CODE THE ENTIRE FOLDER. Always click on a sub folder to do VO coding! I was missing the CAFD file in my DME folder since the program couldn't code while my car was running but luckily Shawn knew exactly how to get it back in there so the car is all good to good to go now.

Now a question for the experts here. I was browsing the web last night and it seems like some people do code the entire folder because they want the car to go back to 100% original (assuming the FA was never messed with) because they lost track of all the changes they've coded in the past. Is this a safe way to accomplish this?

Since my car was throwing an error due to the missing CAFD file in the DME from the car being on, is there any chance that this could have happened in other folders as well due to the car being on when it happened?

I seriously feel like i lost my coding virginity last night....lol

Alan

Yes, so long as Motor is not running, and Battery is strong enough or car is on a charger.

Thanks again.

Does Esys have the capability to code engine running parameters? My X5 has the BMW M Performance software tune installed by the dealer and what I did last night didn't seem to impact it because my power gauge meter still shows 400hp 400tq when stock cars normally shows 320/320. I'm just curious as to what esys coding can and can not do through coding.

Not really individually DME tuning parameters, but the BMW M Performance software tune could be installed by modifying FA, Importing and Activation the FSC Code, and Flashing DME.

I guess since the dealer installed this on my car, my "default" FA already had this in there so whatever I did last night shouldn't wipe it out or change it.... Would you agree?

Time for me to redo all of my FDL coding again tonight. I am however a little intimidated with VO coding now....

Yes. FA Already have PPK and FSC Code already Activated, so VO Coding accounted for PPK.
