MPPK is worth every penny. It transforms the truck/car into what a BMW is supposed to drive and feel like. That being said, I agree with others that MPPK should be part of the MSport package.

I bought MPPK from GetBMWParts for $972 out the door, and saved a couple hundred on the install by having WarpedDrive install it remotely for $150, so $1,122 total. My local BMW dealership quoted me $1365 for parts and labor to install.

So far I am loving it. The car is much more willing and responsive. In Sport+ mode, shift lever to the left (SAT/2TB) and floor it, the car now actually pulls harder and pushes you back in your seat a bit. Even in Comfort mode the throttle response is much better. I’m hoping the tune will improve over time as I’ve read from others it does.

If you want to save a few bucks and not have to visit the dealer, give WarpedDrive a shot. You won't be disappointed.

How do you guys negotiate cheaper installation (like $75)?

I tried to talk to manager, but he made a pokerface saying that it takes some time to download and they need to test all the systems, make sure its working an stuff. So he is saying that the labor is 1.5-2 hrs ~ $300.

I've bought the package itself from getBMWparts for $950.

$75 install seems way too cheap. I paid $210 and that seems to be the normal rate.
You got a good price from getbmwparts.com so just get it installed already.

I was quoted $500 by my local dealer and called them out on their price gouging. Contact Salem, OR BMW ask for Tim they will sell it for $1,080 and install it including the software update for $187.50. Do plan on the visit being a few hours, it takes a while for the thing to download to your car, but the tech doesn't sit in the car for hours watching it download. It was hilarious my local dealer was trying to 'explain' their price gouging and I just said look Salem BMW is going to do it for $187 and that discombobulated them. lol

It's a $70k vehicle, what's a few hundred for an install?!?? If you're quoted anything in the $300 or less range, just do it.

Well, everything has its price. Based on amount of actual labor it needs to install, I don't see how it should cost so much. It shouldn't be based of you vehicle price.

I didn't get in the position to buy a vehicle like this by pissing money away needlessly.

I was wondering, If I do it thru dealer its going to be official and will be on the car record (which is useful when you sell the car or something). If somebody do it remotely, how does it get documented? I am leaning toward $320 at dealership, especially if they are going to do the oil and filters for free.

You have to provide your VIN prior to purchase of your MPPK. BMW Shoukd have a record. Plus you'll have a receipt, plus the mppk decal. $320 is reasonable. Are they doing an unscheduled oil change? Cuz that should be free as part of your 4 year/50k free maintenance.

+1

You could be enjoying your X5 with the new power instead of worrying about spending $100.

I had an appointment this morning to install MPPK. However they said that my VIN doesn't match with the kit they ordered, so waiting on Germany to send a new code. Ugh.
At least they gave me an x5 50 loaner

How long did it take for them to resolve it?

A few days actually because they couldn't figure out why it kept crashing. Two days later they found out the vin number was incorrect and BMW had to provide a new code for it.
Once they figured it out it took one day.
