pre-collision

I finally had the chance to experience the pre-collision warning system yesterday. Please note that I do not have the adaptive cruise that is capable of completely stopping to 0. The car in front of me decided to slow down abruptly when my mind was wandering off. The red warning light came on. Then, the seat belt tightened to prevent injuries. The brakes were primed so when my foot actually hit the brake pedal, the heavy X5 was able to come to a complete stop like a vehicle length before the car in front. The system worked so well that the truck behind me honked at me for almost rear ending me. LMAO.
What a neat feature it is...

It's surprising how effective the brake priming is isn't it!

It's the DA+ option (front collision warning, lane departure, etc). There's another thread in here where the OP's car stopped completely (without driver input) but he was traveling less than 35mph, if I recall correctly.

I was too travelling at the speed of around 30 KMP. I am not sure if the vehicle stopped all by itself or I did since it happened so fast.

Had experienced it in my E class. the brake was sharper, the windows were closed automatically, the seat was straightened and hazard lights went off.

It's crazy how the system worked simultaneously in a matter of seconds.
