Nobody seems to know but there has been talk of a "slow launch", which I for one have not seen before. Dealers have them on their systems. Sheesh - it's even in the new Mission Impossible film! Can only assume it is development or production or marketing (supply / demand) related.

Interesting this US sticker:

Introducing the BMW X5 xDrive40e Plug-In Hybrid (updated w/ US specific details) http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1102491

gives an 8 year power plant battery warranty, whilst in the UK the quoted figure is reportedly only 6 years.

Im getting a great deal for this car. However, I would really want the Q7, but still no release date. The problem for me with the 40e is the boot. While audi has 890 liters, the 40e only 500 vs 640 in my current x5. Also the movable comfort rear seats which I have that give you an extra 10cm is not available in the 40e. Then there is the consumption of the 2l turbo, true world values around 11 l/100 km vs my city driving in the M50d is 10 l/100 km.

Yup. The one in the video above is mine, that is, my wife's car. The delivery picture is when I got to surprise her with it on the way to dinner for her birthday.

Well, that sucks. My production is supposed to be completed tomorrow.

I guess if I'm reading that correctly, X5e's produced after Oct. 21 already come with the software update? So their delivery won't be impacted? Maybe? Hopefully?

UK launch of the X5 40e was due to be on 14 November 2015. Does anyone know if this remains the timeline?

There is still no lease tax credit on the 40e from BMW for being a PHEV. I have been told that BMW is waiting for the IRS and EPA Approval if it will qualify on for a tax credit on the lease.

So after wanting and praising the Q7...I went and bought the 40e. Q7 still N/A and I just got a superb deal on the 40e. I will probably miss my M50d, but with 2 small kids in the back, I throttled the car maybe 2 times in 1,5 years. I also got a manufacture date instantly!

Broken charge flap

I backed from the garage without closing the flap and broke it. I took it to the dealership and was told that I needed to change the whole fender since it was cracked from the inside.
Almost 2k to have it replaced, plus the painting of the new fender. Does this look right?

So, it's true that you have to change the whole fender. I feel so stupid, for forgetting to close the flap.
