Does it have to go to VPC, or did it already? I think mine already went through that, I assume somewhere down there in SC, and it is now awaiting transport. Mine was ordered July 29. Production started August 13 and finished August 21. I'm pretty sure my status went to VPC right after production, but before waiting for transport. I think VPC in Southern California would only be for cars coming in on a ship to the West Coast from Germany, like our M3's did. Now I'm just waiting like you. Mine's coming to Tri-Cities.

Great question... my *assumption* is that cars that are domestically manufactured and then go to the regional VPC (Oxnard for west coast I believe) just as if they were manufactured in Germany and shipped over. But again, that's an assumption - possibly an errant one.

I spoke to my Sales guy today and got clarification on the whole question of VPC versus no VPC. BMW has a VPC in Spartanburg (Greer, really) AND a VPC in Oxnard. They may choose to use either VPC in order to load-balance the prep work, but either way the west coast vehicles go through one of the two VPCs and end up in Oxnard. So it is rail from Spartanburg to Atlanta, offload and wait, then on to Oxnard, then offload and wait. From Oxnard, our vehicles are transported to Oregon by truck.

My Order

I've just ordered an F15 30d M Sport with a few options and came here to try and find out when it's likely to be delivered to the UK.

The corporate dealer has the order in with BMW UK and from reading here I'm dreading that it might even be next year . Should find out an order slot/date early next week.

Can't wait though!

You may have to, delivery to the UK is typically 5 months for a new factory build, and about 2 hours if you live across the pond

Congrats! When is your production scheduled?

Mine has completed production and is either awaiting transit, or is in transit to Oxnard. Unfortunately we seem to lose visibility once production ends until it arrives at the VPC.

Hey, don't know as yet. The sales guy (who was great if anyone in Manhattan needs a referral) says we should get some visibility quickly but that until a VIN gets assigned it is hard to say with certainty. He's guessing 4-5 weeks from order to it showing up here. Works for me...

That's pretty much true... like my sales guy said "man can't seem to determine when life begins, but BMW can - it's when you have a VIN!"

You can ask your CA of the production week or production number.

Then you can call BMW Customer rep and they can tell you when it is scheduled.

If your CA sets it as customer sold, which pretty much everyone does, then bmw gives priority to the order than other dealer orders which pushes it 2 to 3 weeks early than the scheduled date.

Let us know what you find out.

By the congrats

Ordered my F15 30d M Sport from a UK dealer in mid-May and was quoted delivery in Jan 2015. This has since been brought forward to the first week of December. I have specified quite a few options so perhaps this is a factor according to some of the comments on the forum. Best of luck!

Thanks, I'm stunned at how long it takes to get one sorted. My last company car was an Audi A6. I approached a dealer to look into the options and he found one matching my spec in the supply chain and passed it to the procurement team (much to their annoyance) but then I had it in 2 weeks.

I'll be gutted waiting into next year, really can't wait for it!!

I ordered mine early March and was scheduled for early August but it eventually arrived 4 weeks early and I took delivery 11th July. It still took 5 months though. There seems to be a lack of production slots for EU/UK production.

Order on in the 'States and you get it in 5 weeks max and they pay way less than we do for the same thing

I officially ordered my 2015 x35i on Tuesday, got a production number two hours later. It's set to start production while I am in New York all next week. That should help accelerate my days of sitting here thinking about it

Hopefully, should be in my garage two weeks after production (according to my CA) barring any transportation issues.

My build includes:

1) Glacier Silver Metallic
2) (ZMM) Msport Package
3) (ZCW) Cold Weather Package
4) (ZDA) Driver Assistance Package
5) (ZDB) Driver Assistance Plus
6) (5AT) ACC Stop & Go + Active Driving Assistant
7) (ZLP) Lighting Package
8) (ZPP) Premium Package
9) (4CV) Fineline Oak Wook
10) ( 2VF) Adaptive M Suspension
11) (5DP) Parking Assistant
12) (688) Harmon Kardon
13) (6UK) Night Vision

An interesting read

Found this article about the BMW made to measure cars in the US, an interesting read, though they should be able to get EU cars built and shipped within a month surely!

Great link. A surprise as to the level complexity they have to manage. The investment to run such a diverse set of product requirements and options must be huge. But, it is the right direction for expensive cars. Everyone has a chance to get what they want, and gets a sense of a very personal experience in the process. The RR Sport, in contrast, comes in two interior color options....yawn.

Not sure how, but I've just esigned my paperwork and been given the date 28th November, so 11 weeks from now. My wife thinks that's shocking, but from reading all the UK input here I think it's pretty decent.

30d M Sport
Carbon Black
Black Dakota Leather
Reversing Camera
Storage Package
Luggage net
HK hifi
Panoramic Sunroof
Privacy Glass
Rear heated seats

Didn't feel the need for much else. Stuck with the 19s as I want a smooth ride and thought 20-21s might interfere with that. Depending upon the tyres, I may go for winters, primarily for heavy wet conditions as we don't normally get that much snow.

My X5 was built in Aug 11 and delivered Oct 11. So the dealer must have had a slot for your X5 as that for UK is not too bad. My X6 is build nov, delivery Jan and I ordered in June!
