All FF01, FF15 and 19”/20” FF04 are made in Japan. All 21” FF04, FF10 and FF11 are made in Taiwan.
So you guys really think HRE's partners in Japan and Taiwan, will build genuine wheels, then turn around and make knockoff branded HREs without being in violation of the manufacturing agreement?

Nothing wrong in trying to get a better deal, but how do you confirm that the wheel you are getting is forged? Or of the same quality and meets all the same certifications such as TUV in germany etc.

I've had HRE wheels on my E46 M3, Renens on my E70, and now BC forged on my F15. If I have an issue with the wheel, there is a reputable company standing behind it. If you think that buying a knock off wheel from Alibaba is the same thing go for it.

A fully forged wheel for $300 USD is unheard of. I just bought replika cast wheels for my wifes Tesla MY to use as winter, and they are almost $300 USD per wheel

As long as they are not slapping HRE label on the wheels they can get away from not infringing the brand. You'd be surprised about leveraging overseas mass production to minimize overall production costs and maximum profit in retail here. When the product lands here and sold at a retailer, layers of fees and profit margins are added. Often times those inflated costs exceed the actual manufacturing cost. But Yes, I absolutely agree buying from reputable companies would provide worry free guarantee should anything go wrong those companies would stand behind their products and make things right to protect their reputation. Buying wheels from overseas is definitely risky. If something doesn't turn out the way you expect it to be, getting a refund and sending them back would be a pain in the behind. But then everything comes with a price right?

Shipping then back with insurance and certified mail might just cost more than the wheels themselves. Overseas manufacturers have low freight rates or they can piggyback other container shipments to get something like this over here. But as an individual buyer, we do not have those benefits. Something to keep in mind.

Not only that but things happen on the road, potholes, curbs and many other things. Where do you go for replacement wheel 5 years from now if you have replica for China? Buy another set again, even just one rim is damaged. Ugly truth of getting replicas.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate everyone's advice.

I remember a small story which my wife always tells me. You get a Nike branded shirt from TJMax for 10.99 and the same one in the adjoining Dicks Sporting Goods is 40 bucks. Even if I don't like the 10.99, I can do the mistake first time and still have a cushion for 3 more mistakes. I do buy from Dicks as well but only when my pocket allows and something not available at TJMax. Wife is always right😊.

But it's the perception we have always for branded items not knowing what other person's pocket allows. My pocket would never allow me forged wheels locally. So it's worth taking the risk. And why would the dealer in China give you a wrong thing. Just because it's a Chinese product. I think we need to change the perception on how we look things in this ever evolving world.

Like we all told you, its your money, spend it as you see fit. All that matters is you are comfortable with your choice

Subbed to see how this turns out. My only concerns are the durability of the wheels. Some you here may remember RennSport wheels sold by a vendor by the name of Sonic Tuning. Flow Forged wheels at <$1000 a set in 19s for the 3 series and 5 series crowd. I got a set for my C63 at the time because it was cheap, lightweight and perfect 2nd set of wheels for some aggressive wheel fitment stance. Fast forward a year later, hit a couple of small potholes which in most cases should had NO impact. Result, cracked and bent 2 rims.

Yup the wheel is the exact replica, so the BMW cap won't fit. It's the same with original HRE wheels as well.
