Towbar Wiring

Folks, has anyone fitted a towbar to an F15 and done the wiring yourself? If so, what wiring kit did you use? There seem to be a few kits which require the parking sensor button to be pressed to deactivate the rear sensors when towing, and I can only see 1 kit that deactivates the sensors automatically.

In my E70 the sensors went off automatically, but I don’t know if it’s worth paying an extra £60/70 for the privilege! Just wondering if the likes of the ECS kit is grand, and if pressing the button is that much of an inconvenience?!

Thanks!

Use the oem parts. Module, wiring, etc. then get a Curt bar. Should be $600ish for everything.

It’s easy to hit the button. Also code your camera for manual operation so you can spy on the trailer.

Parts via bimmerworld think all the normal players have the parts

Wiring: 82712349500
Module: 63119463372

etrailer did the Draw-Tite class 3 and a 7/4pin mount

Do towing coding via bimmer remote, wish I did the manual camera option.

You’ll be good to go with that setup.

I paid an Indy shop for install under $500

Sensors get deactivated when you plug into the oem wiring. If you have a bike rack or anything not plugged it sensors will go crazy.

Just realized you are in Europe might differ slightly!

Get the Tenkonsha wiring kit. Honestly not a big deal to hear the sensor beep for a few seconds you will be in reverse. It's less than a $100 and easy to install without any cutting or splicing of wires.
