Good look or not?

I'm thinking about putting the colored grill inserts on my truck(light blue, blue, and red). Is that a good look or not. My X5 is a 35i and I don't want to look like I'm trying to make people think it is an M. I have had M cars in the past and I always hated when I saw that someone was trying to pass their car off as an M model. I have MPPK and MPE with the M Performace graphics in the sides. Is it acceptable to put the M sport colors on the front grill??

Don't let anyone tell you what you can and can't do with your car. Who cares what people say? If you want colored M stripes on the grill...go for it.

I agree with xdriverx it's your car, do what you want with it. Personally, I don't think it looks good at all and I cringe every time I see them at meets or on the road.

It's your car, if you like it then do it. Personally, I don't dislike people doing it since you are not actually posing as a fake M by slapping a badge in the back.

Exactly, if anything the M stripes on the grill I feel is more for enthusiasts than anything.

I agree with everyone above. It's your car!

While I do like the colored grill stripes on some models, I find it a little too overpowering on the X5 grill.

Agree with everyone here. I like the double slat grill. I have the all black on my F15. The multi colored one looks great also;

I looked at the photo Rotzy posted and it immediately reminded me of something but it took me a few moments to visualize what that was.

A gold crown on someone's front tooth.

To each his own...

I sort of like the colored slats in the double slat grill pictured above. I think the difference is that only the front tip of the slat is colored in that one, where as with the colored inserts I see advertised for the single slat grill, the entire slat is colored and I feel that is too much.

To me the colors look like the car has make up on and not just your standard make up but an inexperience girl who is experimenting. It just doesn't look good at all. But if it turns you on then by all means go for it.

The slats in the picture you posted look thicker than OEM and give - IMO - the appearance of something cut out of plywood, painted with Krylon, and glued in.

However, everyone's mileage will vary when it comes to taste (or lack thereof).
