extended information display on dash

been browsing alot of the subforurms as well as watching youtube videos on the f15 x5 so i can learn as much as possible. took me 3.5 weeks to realize that my dash is different from other x5's

the extended display that im used to from my 335 is the same in my x5. however i noticed on others they show the temperature in the lower right hand corner (where my time is displayed) and the display runs all the way over to the left side where is displays the time.

sorry for the stupid question but are the displays different for the cars equipped with and without the driver assistance packages? (thats the only difference i can think of) i for one do NOT have the drive assistance packages

thx

Yes. Driver Assistance Package comes with the HUD and extended dashboard per the USA configurator.

It's easy to see if you have the standard or extended dash. The left side gauge on the standard dash is surrounded by a complete circle of silver trim. The left side gauge on the extended dash is not (the bottom of the gauge is replaced by an info display).

Wait until you see the totally electronic dashboard that's available only in non-US countries. Your head will explode.

I should also note that if you have the 50i, the extended dashboard comes with the executive package and not with the Driver Assistance package. It comes with whatever package gives you the heads up display.

Do they even offer a tech package on the X5 anymore? I don't see it on the US configurator.

Interestingly, the 40e looks to come with the extended dash as a standard feature.

He has a X6, so it may be the case for that model. I know the X6 has the all digital cluster in the USA.

Sounds like the OP has the basic cluster vs the extended cluster (6WA)?

i have a 2017 x5 Msport 35i
i dont have any of the driver assistanct packages.. so i assume yes.. the basic cluster (like the one in my f30 335)

not a huge deal.. just thought i was doing something wrong.
I do like the full electric dash, also like the traditional bmw analog gauges. weird how the x6 offers it (even the 4 series too) but not the x5.

thx for confirming all

I suspect a 6WA (extended cluster) could be retrofitted?

ahhh yes.. exactly that.
thanks for the link..

i think for the money i'm probably better off working on mods under the hood rather than the instrument cluster. this lcd display doesn't add HP
