Recommend a start on mods is also dropping that S63 motor in there to complement that new bumper.

Can I keep my M sport bumper and replace the exhaust only to the f85 from the square 5.0? Or do I need to change the bumper too?
Dumb question. The exhaust pipes are in a completely different location. What was I thinking. Definitely need the bumper. |

For example. In my country, X5 35i costs 130k usd, for X5M, it can cost up to 350k USD, and the worst of all, there's no road long enough for you to enjoy the power. Even 35i is overpowered for the road condition here. |

I hope the OP is planning to keep it for a long time, otherwise I'd be interested to know how this will affect resale value. If I were in the market for a used F15 50i this alteration would raise too many red flags (e.g. Has it been in an accident? How is this going to bite me in the ass further down the road when something goes wrong?) and I would definitely move on to the next one, in hopes of finding one that is accident-free without any major modifications.
I am sure there are a lot of potential buyers who wouldn't even notice if they weren't intimately familiar with the various X5 models. If the alterations weren't disclosed at the time of sale I reckon the buyer would have some serious remorse months or years down the road when an enthusiast or technician would inevitably ask about it. Reminds me of when I was shopping at a car stereo shop and they were working on a customer's new car in the front of the building. The door panels had been removed to install the new speakers and the tech was hacking away at the metal door panels to accommodate the larger speakers that the owner had just purchased. I cringed at the thought of the poor guy who would one day be the next owner and would likely have no idea what tragedy was hiding behind the seemingly stock / original door panels. |

We are in the US are very lucky. Car price are the cheapest in the US. Even out neighbors Canada and Mexico have to pay more for the same exact car.
Retrofitting and conversion is a big thing in Asia and some parts of Europe. Over here even when the car are the cheapest, a lot of car owners still having a hard time paying extra money for better quality parts.

Doesn't make a difference. It's the same car just different rear exhaust. Which you have to replace anyway going to M bumper.

I think we should cut some slack to anyone who wants to improve his/her x5 via cosmetic mods like bumper cover or similar. It's not a big deal imho, afaik they are not rebadging it with x5m so I don't see a problem here. For me it's no different than putting a spoiler or sidevent or something like that. We are all enthusiasts after all and it's only natural if someone wants to improve the looks
Even purist M nazi like wdimagineer has aftermarket things placed on his M car that don't belong there (hello iND stuff that he had a blasphemy to place on X5M) - I can start shaming him and blaming for making his M car look like something it's not lol and send him packing back to his M f85 cave he crawled from - but I'm not going to do that, not going to act like he is Let's have some generosity toward each other |

has anyone on here done a complete f15 --> f85 exterior retrofit? im talking front bumper, rear bumper, diffuser and mirrors. since the f15 body is nearing end of life, prices have been dropping ~ 30k range for x50. but the f85's seem to be holding there value ~ 70k. i dont see anything wrong with doing exterior oem mods.. as long as there is no M badging

I don't think you'll find anyone here who have done it. Lots of f85 bumper retrofits in Russia - there's tons of examples there - it's mainly due to low labor cost as labor cost is most prohibitive in USA/Canada. Also they use replica bumpers - a lot cheaper than OEM, but it will require some trimming here and there - which again is labor cost (once again cheap in Russia). If you want OEM - it's going to be expensive. Here's rear bumper and all fasteners and diffusers required for full assembly of rear bumper: https://parts.bmwofsouthatlanta.com/..._BMW_StockCode It comes to about $2k for rear bumper parts only. Add to that painting job (about $500) and installation cost - about $500. You are looking at $3k total (if not more) for REAR ONLY. Now add front bumper with all the associated paint and installation costs and you are close to $8-9k mark all together. This is why no one have done it yet There is a way however, to go with replica parts like this rear bumper f85 for $678 http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/b...per+cover,1344 but you'll still need other parts and painting and installation etc. Doable? Yes. Justifiable? Nope At this point it's easier to focus on 21 or 22 inch gorgeous rims. Do other cosmetic mods or do M brake kit which will look sick, do Eibach lowering springs to improve the stance - lots of things to mod to improve looks or performance imho |

Also, just as a option for non sport f15 - there's Aero kit which doesn't look bad and is about $1800 for rear and front http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1109647

the lower mileage ones can still fetch higher prices. here's my latest cars.com search for 2014-2017 f15. something ~60k miles is about $30k.
yes oem is expensive but the fit is unbeatable. back in the days when the e46 m3's were still current, i was able to retrofit all the oem csl parts (full interior, exterior, wheels, roof, wheels). it was a pretty penny but since the csl was not imported here, to me it was well worth it. if i do the f15--f85 conversion, i would only do oem. but i would save money and install the parts myself. i would first look for used/damaged oem parts which can be painted to look new. as for wheels, i would only do the 21".. the 22" look a bit off to me.
