Hi All

I'm new to the group, looking for some advice or any pictures out there of the following combination that I've ordered few weeks ago expected delivery December 2016 UK delivery.

BMW X5 Space Grey with 469M Jet Black Alloys.

I've seen Space Grey with 491M alloys/wheels but not with the new 469M Jet Black does anybody recommend this combination? I didn't want go with a black car as that the combination everyone of my friends picked but there most be a reason other than black the norm and a great car colour. Right! ? I wanted something different, smart but with a slick look that doesn't shout out drug dealer more footballers car

I'm a fan of darker wheels like gunmetal/ graphite. But, gloss black is too drug dealer for me. :-)

On the fence about black wheels. Just hides the entire design. Doesn't really matter which wheels you have at that point they all look the same. The only set I'd paint black is a beater set.

Welcome REX. Space Grey & black 469s?
Do it.

I'm biased since I love black wheels. I have a Mineral White with 491s and loving the contrast.
Grey with black 469s would also look nice minimizing some contrast without blending completely.

That exterior and wheel combo is really good. Just be wary if you get the M50 or M the wing mirror colour clashes with that grey

Personally I looked at this and the black wheels made it all a bit too dark for me.

Collection 9am tomorrow for me with a Space Grey M50D

Thanks for the quick replies seem like most people like the Space Grey in this group just maybe not the wheels.

Looking at the pictures in the post Space Grey is darker than what I saw in the showroom almost looked like a lighter grey in the showroom but that could be the wheel contrast? I'm going to get the side skirt ///M Performance decal to add a little effect along with a tracker device so I'm in this for the long haul until December 18 weeks delivery from the US painful.

Ouch Dec 18th is a long wait. At least you will get IDrive 5 etc. I jumped into a car that had just been built but missed the changes by about a 2 weeks. Not fussed as I was more interested in the deal, looks like BMW UK are pushing the 50D hard as it was a fair bit cheaper for me than the 40D I was actually looking to get!

Space Grey is a lovely colour and a lot less of them on the road than the (also lovely looking) Mineral Grey. I think SG will hide dirt pretty well for a big car.

Raining hard on my collection day tomorrow, pah!!

Will post some pictures this weekend when I have the chance, think it will look excellent with the 20inch bi-colour option wheel.

Chris.

I personally love the space grey and black wheel setup, very aggressive looking. Had it on my E70 but decided to switch it up on the F15 went with white and powder coating my rims black soon.

The M50D and 40D was working out the same price monthly but Insurance was a little more on the M50D. So discussed with the Mrs that the M50D was to much power for her so i decide on the 40D as it still got enough power for me to enjoy and good MPG.

Personally not a fan of the 469M's in black. I agree with the above, the design gets kinda lost. I really like the machined w/ painted insets look of the standard 469M's.

Having a black wheel simulates a big void and black hole in appearance.

Black wheels are soon to become the thing of the past, stick with the silver wheels

I said the same thing 5-6 years ago, when it starting becoming a thing in white performance cars, especially as aftermarket second.

Then it never went away, and more and more are actually appearing as OEM wheels.

I actually prefer Matt or carbon grey over full black as a colour. Other than the 2 tone silver grey of the 310 and 499, which designs I absolutely adore, the 21 inch only OEM options can be really expensive for tyres, and if they came as 22 inch, it would be a must have for me. The rest of 20 inch, whilst nice, is far too common for my liking.

Hence, on my AW X5, black 469s was the standout choice for me. I may go replica 22 on the 310s.

My 2 cents

I agree at some point that black wheels look good on certain colors but looks at home when it is present on exotics with big brake kits and with loud exterior colors.

I personally love the combo you have.

If I had not found mine with black on black, I would have ordered the same as your build.

I am not sure which one I like better. I like them both a lot!!!
