I don't think too much about it. The oil analysis is just "fun facts" for me. For me I just do 5000 mile changes and not think too much of it.

I once drove my 1974 Datsun 510 station wagon without a single oil change or any maintenance for that matter except buying new tires for 5+ years before getting into an accident and totaling the car. I didn't change oil because I was cheap and broke and I was a moron teenager that didn't care. True story.

I'm pretty sure if we drove these BMWs for five years say 10k miles/year without a single service the car will pretty much still run for these five years then good luck to the next person.

Obviously the car's engine back then was more crude and less advanced than the engines we drive today... will changing oils on a shorter interval extend the life of an engine? Possibly... but by how much longer? Unless you are keeping your car for 10 to 15+ years I don't see the benefit. What really is funny to me is that most people here won't own these past it's warranty limit anyway..
