The filters and RC was installed by mechanic.

The yellow motor warning is still on. Does anyone have experience with it? I don't know why it poped up. Because from RC (setting C) or filters?

Do you have picture of the installation?

You can try remove the unit and use the dummy plug and see if the CEL goes away.
If it goes away, then try change the RC setting to S2=B and give it a try again.

Hi Ben.

Thank you for your reply. Will try it tomorrow. Did I make a mistake for changing immediately from B to C?

Thanks

Not necessarily, but sometime the car won't like the sudden change and throw the light.

Dummy plug is the easiest quick check. I would install it and do 5 engine starts to see if it clears. If not my bet is the harness was incorrectly installed. Ensure every connection is plugged in.

I unpluged the RC. Did the 5 engine starts and the CEL was gone. Now changed RC from C to B and worked fine. But I had to strain RC more now. Before it was lose. Do you think that to lose could cause CEL to pop up?

Yes it could. Drive it a few times on B and report back.

Today CEL showed again. RC is on B (factory setting). When I unpluged RC and made 5 times engine start the CEL was gone. Do you think the CEL is coming back because it was not deleted? Now I changed filters back to factory. I don't know what is causing CEL to pop up. BMC filters with RC combo? Any ideas..

And the CEL allways poped up after some driving. I drove for 30 km and no CEL. Parked my car for couple of hours. Started engine and CEL poped up. Never immediately after installing RC or filters.

Did you check to make sure the RC connections are on tight? I would leave the RC on B setting and remove the BMC filters to see if that eliminates the problem. If the CEL still comes back then try driving with the dummy plug in there first. If that CEL still comes back then remove the entire harness.

Put in the dummy plug and drive it. If the cel returns it's a bad harness or one of the harness connectors was not installed properly. If the cel does not return you have a bad unit. A pure guess is a harness connector is loose but driving with the dummy plug will reveal the problem. It will be an easy fix either way.

Hi guys.

I removed BMC filters and installed original ones. Set RC to B setting and drove my car. First two engine starts no CEL. Third engine start CEL pops up. Now removed RC and replace it with dummy plug. Will do what you suggested. Will drive with dummy plug and see what happens.

The next step if the CEL comes back with just the dummy plug is to check to make sure all connections are tight and solid. If they are then I would recommend you getting the car scanned to see what faults are being triggered. If its RC related then I would send the unit back for an exchange. Maybe somehow your unit isn't right for the X5M??

Ben - are all RC's pretty much the same units corresponding to the brand of car and engine size or are they specific down to the exact car model? Wondering if he got a wrong unit.

Same unit just different firmware.
It may be the case.

Does the F15 50i have different firmware than the F85 X5M?

Update on RC..

Have been driving with dummy plug for whole day. Lot's of engine starts. No CEL all day. It has to be something wrong with the unit. I guess the harness works fine considering no CEL. And it is connected how it's suppose to be.

Thats actually good news since it is easy to replace the unit and the harness is tight. New unit and you are gtg !

That dummy plug is the reason I went with RC. If I'm 1000 miles away from home in a rain storm and it ever failed, dummy plug in a couple of minutes and done.

Hi guys.

After one week I found out my harness is not installed properly. RC support wrote me that the connection are not connected to the boost presure of the car but to the air mass connections.

Will try tomorrow to fix the problem. Any suggestions the easyest way to find boost presure connectors?

Thanks

I believe Ben from RGSport did a whole DIY on how to install this on the X5 50i which is the same install for the X5M.

Fire that "mechanic ".

Ben has pics on his site. Very tight area but doable.

I could've told you if you provide me the installation picture.
