Bluetooth issues and what is the latest software?

I'm having Bluetooth issues on our 2016 X5. I thought it was attributed to my wife's old iPhone 5s but today I noticed the same thing happening on my iPhone 7 Plus. It shows the phone is connected. It also shows on the iDrive when you are making the call but the BT does come thru the speakers. I tried updating the software with a BIN file that was given after putting in my VIN called UPD05074.bin in hopes that it's just needing an update to deal with the latest iOS. My iDrive says that there is incompatible software on the USB device.

Any advice on the Bluetooth issue and what I can do?

What is the latest software?

Why does it say I have incompatible software on the USB?

Do you think when my coding guy coded it for the Enhanced BT option a year and a half ago that this is the problem. My wife has always complained and I just assumed it was her phone.

I formatted the USB to FAT 32 and did it several times over. No luck.

It could be that the software on the car is more current that software available for download. I had read that on another site. I might have to get the dealer to flash it.

Your software is newer than what BMW has released to the general public for upgrade. Most of those get flashed at the dealer or OTA.

Sometimes this happens to me as well (2015 model year, iPhone 6S). When this happens however, the sound output on the iPhone automagically switched to iPhone rather than bleutooth when initiating a call.
Simply switching the sound output of the ongoing call back to bluetooth (on the iPhone) fixes it.

Haven't noticed a pattern yet, some calls work fine, other don't, regardless of where they were initiated..

I hope this helps.

Note: i have the latest version of iOS as well as on the car (same as you: 003.001.002)
