To clarify, there's no official OEM retrofit kit, but the cluster is a 100% OEM part. It wouldn't work otherwise. The poster from HK is using an OEM part, too. It might not be the actual part number specified for the F15/F16, but clusters from the F10/F11/F12 chassis are physically and electrically compatible. General availability of the actual part for the F15/F16 just happened.

The retrofit physically has been possible since the F15 launch. But coding wasn't possible because the car's software wasn't able to communicate. I believe the I-Level corresponding to 52.0 (~July?) enabled it due to the 6WB option availability in the X5/X6 and SOP of those cars. If you tried to add 6WB to your VO it wouldn't work if you were running an I-Level lower. (This I-Level was also the one that added new icons into iDrive Navigation.)

The rear carbon fiber cover has no cut out for a hitch.

Just an update for everyone. I contacted Bimmer-Tech regarding when my 6WB Digital Display Cluster will be shipped and I got this response from them:

Hi Omar,

We should receive it from BMW by the end of this week so you should receive it from us by the end of next week.

Kind regards,

Just another update. My 6WB cluster was shipped late night tuesday from Warsaw, Poland. It is currently in Cincinnati, OH. I should get it either by tomorrow or Saturday (hopefully). I'm going to FA code 6WB today or tomorrow into my vehicle so I get that out of the way before the cluster arrives.

Do you know what I-Level you're on? If you haven't updated recently at the dealer it will likely not take.

Hey WDI pmed you about the coding, but it's okay if you are busy.

Omar thanks for all the help! I can't wait to see your steering wheel retrofit and this new instrument cluster.

@wdimagineer, my I-Level is F025-14-03-503. This I-Level is one step below 53.0 (F025-14-07-502), which I am currently using. I checked the I-Level pdf sheet and it shows 52.3 and 52.4 match my current I-Level. Will I be ok or do I have to get the software update from BMW? This is the I-Level PDF I referenced from @shawnsheridan: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/att...6&d=1406976367

Sorry. Been swamped. Only on here briefly.

Opasha - I'd update first. I'm not 100% certain when support was introduced. I heard 53.0.

No need to apologize, my friend. Thank you for the response. Is it ok for me to try with my current I-level first just to see or will it cause errors? I want to just make sure this method is doable in case others who have similar I-levels can install without a dealer update (since these updates usually wipe all fdl coding right?).

Personally I would wait. But that's just me being overly cautious.

I'll call Bimmer-tech tomorrow and ask them. I totally understand what you mean. Always best to be cautious. Thanks again!

As @wdimagineer said, Bimmer-Tech has it. Here is the link I posted on page 2: http://www.bimmer-tech.net/shop/bmw-...panel-retrofit.

Has anyone tried getting these from GetBMWParts? I'm wondering if the price might be better or at least faster shipping?
