Door seal
Hi there,
I just took delivery of my x5 m50d ( pictures will follow ) d have already the same issue ( i also signed the petition) . I asked my dealer here in Belgium and he told me there was already a PUMA ( German abbreviation for sort of accepted construction fault) made at BMW but not yet a fix. Besides that, the car drives just awesome !! It is a start I guess.... To be continued Cheers |

Edit: puma is not yet accepted construction fault , it means translated : product and measures management aftersales .
It just means Bmw Belgium has considered it serious enough to send such a request to Bmw Germany. Anybody knows more about this procedure ? |

Your car was built on the 24th of January and you received it in the UK already? I'm getting really pissed at my dealer here. I don't understand why mine has not arrived in Canada as mine was built on the same day! Nice to know that when I finally get it I'll have the door seal issue to deal with

I have had a PUMA case on my old 2011 X5. Essentially when a PUMA is opened, your issue will be dealt with at a BMW level and not the dealership. It may take a bit longer because the dealer has to wait for what BMW tells them to do. The nice thing is when you get to a PUMA case, it will be fixed.

resolved???
Has anyone had this issue addressed by the dealer?
I parked my car on a lot for a week while on vacation and didn't notice that the seal flipped out on my way out of the car. I also think that at high speed this seal can cause excessive wind noise because it is so flimsy. My squeaks and rattles warranty ends in 700km and I'm considering brining it to my dealers attention before then. |

I have had it fixed under warranty. They have now an aftersale solution and replaced the seal. Happy to report that this is solved...
Unfortunately, I have more and more rattles appearing. After 5 BMWs. my next car will be an Audi I think. |

it's sad that the seals are getting thinner. my 2002 330i has extremely robust/thick/silky/rubbery door seals. they look brand new. i condition them twice a year though so that helps.

Hate to resurrect an old thread, but my seals are falling apart thanks to the summer heat here, and im out of base warranty, is there a decent aftermarket solution for these or only OE?

As of 2017 year model onwards these seals are removed. I have to say that compared to my 2014 the 2017 make is louder on the highway (in the absence of seals). Not sure whether the doors are different in any way (i doubt it).

I just noticed on mine. It isn't as bad as the pictures on this thread. But I saw on mine it was ripped.
In case anyone else is having issues. I found the part at ECSTuning. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...e/51767318509/ Seems easy enough to install.

I had several of mine replaced under warranty after I bought mine. One was ripped off and they wouldn't replace it because they said " someone cut it off". I'm not sure what happened to it, I'm second owner. Anyways, it's pretty cheap. I think 30 dollars Canadian or something.
