Just got her!

The details are listed in my signature. I LOVE the car so far after about 120 miles. It's mighty quick. I traded in my '11 528i for it. I did not like the 528 at all. But i digress...

I do have a question for you guys. The car is supposed to have 20 way seats yet I only count 16. Does anyone have a list of the full 20 ways that the seats can be adjusted? I'm surprised that with so many possible adjustments that there is no way to adjust the side bolsters. The seats are very comfortable but are too wide. I looked at the Configurator a million times and didn't realize that I wasn't getting an option to adjust the side bolsters? Was there anyway to order it with a side bolster adjustment?

My other car is an '11 Carrera 4s with adaptive sport seats. They are fantastic because they keep you from moving laterally.

The upload feature doesn't automatically resize the pics to the correct pixels. How do I do it manually?

Are you saying you have the multi contour seats and the side bolsters still don't adjust? There should be a separate button for that. Just an oval shaped button you push up or down to inflate/deflate. At least that's how it usually is.

Edit: my f30 button is rectangular not oval

You can just host it with photobucket and just attach the IMG links.

Steps for easy image posting:
1) Postimage.org
2) Upload (family safe) - choose largest resize or keep original size
3 a) Copy direct link of each url and past each into the Go Advanced section of message reply here and select image url button - this allows you to post each individual pic perfectly using direct links.
3 b) Alternative method: just copy the link to gallery and paste that here - that's the easiest method.

Looking forward to your pics! Congrats!

Or just resize them on your phone or computer... Any editing software can do that.

here's what the button in my F30 looks like, top right. On our X3 it was oval shaped I think. You absolutely should have this with multi contour seats. If you don't have multi contour and just have sport seats, you don't have inflatable bolsters, and vise-versa.. Since you said you only count 16 adjustments, maybe you don't have MC seats? I don't recall how many adjustments the sport seats have.

Edit: Now that I'm on a computer instead of my phone, I can see your signature. I don't see multi contour seats listed, so not sure who told you you'd have 20 way adjustable seats without it, but you don't, sorry to say.. that explains why no adjustable bolsters, and smaller bolsters than the sport and MC seats have. From what you've listed, you have the standard seats.

'14 X5 xDrive50i. Black Sapphire Metallic, Mocha Dakota Leather, Fineline Pure Wood Trim with the following goodies: Luxury line, 20"rims, and rear manual side window shades. Have since had the windows tinted and the Escort 8500 hardwired.

I'm confused. Standard on the 50i are 20-way heated power multi-contour front seats with lumbar support and memory.

But on the options list is says that sports seats are included.

What is the difference and why does the build say two different things?

When configuring the 50i I don't see any seat options available. I'm very confused...

I did mine on the configurator also, but when I went to the dealers, he told me I had the option to go with the standard (sport seat) or multi contour at N/C. He also gave me the option of aluminum or gloss black roof rails. The configurator is OK for getting things in order, but when you go in they give you a few more options.

Sorry, I didn't realize MC were standard on the 50i. If that's indeed the case, you should have inflatable side bolsters. You don't have a button like the one I showed you? If it's a no charge option as buckeyewalt said, are you sure you (your CA) selected it on the order?

So I would think this is referring to the inflatable bolsters. I would be shocked if your MC seats didn't have that, but maybe someone else with a MC seats can confirm:

20-way power Multi-contour front seats include standard 10-way power seat functions, plus additional power adjustment functions for shoulder and thigh support, backrest width and lumbar support (contour and position), plus 2-way manual lateral adjustment for Comfort headrest (not available with SensaTec)

This is only thing I found. You can change the side bolsters but the don't call it bolsters. In the owners manual it says:

Backrest width
Change the width of the backrest
using the side wings to adjust
the lateral support.

So I am ASSuming that they are talking about the side bolsters(wings) when they say that. I tried to get a copy of it but wouldn't let me. The control is above the lumbar support (round control)chrisny has a picture of it above.

I'll find out more Thursday when I pick mine up!!

Confirmed for my 50i, non-MSport, it has "backrest width" function/button. Looks just like ChrisNy post #9, top RH, rocker style button. It didn't do much for me though.
Owners Manual: page 50 has a pic of the button.

Personally, I love it and miss it on the F15. The bolsters just lock you in place and while it's probably more appropriate on my F30 than the F15, I do wish I had realized the sport seats don't have this function. I also wonder why the BMW marketers or whomever puts together the manuals chose to call it "backrest width" instead of bolsters lol.

One thing different on my F30 than on the MC seats I had on my E70, on the E70 they deflated when you shut off the car and inflated when you got in, making it easier to get in and out. Was also a cool (albeit silly) 'cockpit' feeling like 'now you're ready to go!' lol Kind of like an Audi S5 I had, when you started the ignition, in addition to the beautiful engine/exhaust note on start up, the steering wheel unlocked and the headlights leveled (down when parked, came up when you started the car). Just a quick little sequence but I loved starting that thing.
