Just got my RCU from a forum member. My question is can I start off with a D1 setting or Start slowly with the B1? I have a jb+ currently installed now together with a mppk. Thanks

You can start at D1 it doesn't need to learn or adjust slowly. It doesn't really learn persay. The setting just adjusts how fast it spins the turbo. The ecu will adjust on the fly to the increased air flow.

A bit frustrated after a short period of time using the RCU:
The chip came with 2 sides of purple harness (dm-b 8722) labeled with letters A and B. In the paper it states following:
"A-turbo, B-intake manifold, C-mass air sensor (except for wire B4230). Which is already confusing..
I figured if "B" is intake manifold, I should plug it in to my MAP sensor-the one behind the airbox. So I plugged "A" into my Tmap sensor-the one on the CP. both of the plugs are exactly the same, so Im not sure if I did the right way. Shortly after I started driving I got first the drivetrain, then a CEL "P00BD" if Im not mistaken, something about the airflow. The drivetrain message was gone for a while, a CEL cleared with the scan tool. I also checked all the plugs and everything was tight. However last night I got the CEL again and the car felt a bit shaky, kind of same feeling, when tranny shifts badly, but it wasn't during gear shifts. I removed the chip and plugged in my old single sensor JB+, drove 150 miles and no problems at all. I've had this chip for 2.5 years since my first bmw-428i and never had a CEL with it! Using it for 2 months on my X6 n55 now.
I also have a mppk installed. What could be wrong, guys? I would like to find a problem and give it one more shot.. PS used it on C S2 setting.

I made that picture.
Where to buy it? You have to purchase them from BMW or electronic parts store.
Some are not even obtainable.

I never purchase them as parts.

Noob question

First off- I am new to BMWs. Just bought a 2014 X5 3.5i and I LOVE it. I want/need the bigger car, but i miss the performance of my tuned Forester XT. I know won't equal the FXT's off-the-the without going to the 5 liter, but I want to get closer.

I've followed the thread- but I have to ask a simple question- I want to put the RaceChip "RS" in my 2014 3.5i. I assume there are no major problems or issues? I've tuned other cars moderately (no major engine mods or turbo upgrades), but want a little more from the 3.5 engine. $500 for a removable, piggyback-able chip seems like a safe investment.

It will be a bit before I can afford the factory authorized upgrade, I think it will cost about $1200?

The question is: Do you all think this is a reasonable first step?

Running a linear regression of torque from the 5.0i (adjusting for lighter mass as well), Adding 65 lb-ft to the 300 lb-ft suggest 0-60 should drop to 5.27 sec (i'm including hundredths of a second for comparison purposes, i understand this is too fine of a real world measurement) from 6.0. This would be about 33 feet ahead at 60 mph.

The base "S" chip would yield 52 lb-ft extra for a 5.42 0-60, 26 feet ahead of stock. It's $150 cheaper, but I'm wary of buying bottom end.

Comments, thoughts, insights, experience all warmly welcomed! Thank you.

I have been selling RaceChip for 3 years.
And so far no engine issues has been reported.
I don't offer the S model, because I personally think it is a waste of money.

Let me know if you are interested and I'll give you a quote.

You have RC Ultimate, right?
You may want to consult RaceChip directly too since they would have more information on how to troubleshoot that.

But, in the meantime, let me help.
Did you purchase it new or used?
Is it the RaceChip Ultimate or RaceChip Ultimate Connect?
Post pictures of your installation.

Yes please, what would you charge for the RS model for a 2014, X5 x3.5i F-15 engine? Shipping to Illinois.

Hi, unfortunately I didn't take pictures while it was installed, but I'll try to explain.
I bought it used from a forum member here, who stated that it was made for n55 engine. Its a RCU, non connect version. The weird thing is that it came with b8722 harness, instead of 8720, I couldn't find any information about this particular 8722 one on google. Both purple plugs fit both of my sensors map and tmap, so I followed instructions (A-turbo-I plugged into the sensor on the charge pipe, B-intake manifold-sensor behind the airbox?) both connectors were tight and clicked in. I used the selector S2-C, S1-1. I also have the MPPK installed..
Thanks for your time)

Harness 8722 is correct.

Switch selector default is S2=B, S1=1

I still need pictures.

Do you want the RS or GTS Black?
With or without app function?

RCU is outdated, step up to the RC GTS Black w/app control. You'll be glad you did.

To be honest I haven't done enough research to distinguish between the two. What's your recommendation? These will more than likely be my only performance mod.
