Nice! What are your thoughts on the performance difference between the X5 50 and X5m?

Although the 5.0 still has a significant amount of power and torque, the M is very noticeably more responsive. It's more than that though. The most significant difference is the overall ride. I have not driven a regular X-Line/Luxury line X5, my 5.0 has the M adaptive suspension, without dynamic handling/damper control. The 5.0 floats over the road compared to the M. Strangely, the 5.0 actually feels heavier to me. The 5.0 obviously has more lean in turning and tracks a little lazier, but still leaves you feeling confident when behind the wheel. The X5 M is harsher, although not uncomfortable and feels much lighter on its feet. Both are great vehicles - but are notably different. They look similar, but ride like completely different SAV's.

Interesting comparison. I am considering an X5 and trying to figure out which one I would possibly get. The thing that kills me is that the M doesn't have ACC as an option which I think it ridiculous. I guess the harsher ride is also a negative but how can one say no to that much power?

Just messing with you a bit. Good for you!

Of the two beasts, I like the SUV er SAV better. Still pissed at Bangle. Where is he anyway?

M car and an SUV? That's a small subset of people here, you're just showing off, but I'll bite

The 5.0 is my wife's - I get to drive it every now and again. I have had a number of M cars over the years - 2008 E90 M3 manual, 2010 E90 M3 DCT, 2010 E70 X5M, 2013 F10 M5, 2014 F10 M5 Competition. I've loved them all - not bragging either, just want to mention the point as a basis of my M ownership experience, haha. I still miss the E90 the most. The sound of the naturally aspirated engine was very special, just at idle.

Anyway, it's good to see that I'm not the only person with a similar addiction to The letter M! Each of your garages would cause envy.

Wow! I see I'm not the only one in love with "M"! I drove my first M car back in 1996 and I has always had one in my stable.

This is our other BMW, until this winter, when it gets cycled out for a new one. My partner plans on a 650 XDrive, but I'm hoping he'll change his mind for an M6. I catch him looking at the M6 website every so often, so maybe there's hope!
