Exterior/ interior selection on new X5M
I am about to place an order on new X5M and need some help in deciding the colors. I always had silver and grey cars so leaning more towards these choices.
Let me know your suggestions or if I need to change something. No black interior for me . Interior will be Mugello Red or Aragon Brown. Thanks 1) Mineral White / Red or Argon brown interior. Let me know the best combo with aluminum trim or carbon fiber ( leaning more towards aluminum trim to brighten up the interiror) 2) Long Beach Blue. Leaning more towards Aragon brown. Trying to stay away with Superman look with Red interior 3) Silverstone - Red or Aragon brown. Let me know best combo 4) Donnington Grey ( least favorite as it'll be another grey car for me ). Red or Argon brown. Driver assist. executive, parking assist, bang& olufsen and night vision.

journeyguy, I'm partial to the Donington Grey with Mugello Red and Carbon Fiber interior, it's what I ordered. I've always been a grey car guy, but this doesn't feel like another grey car. It fluctuates between bright silver, a warm pewter color (almost seems a bit of gold in some light), and a steely sort of grey. The red interior is fantastic. It isn't too in your face, it adds sport and pizzaz to the interior, and goes fantastically well with the carbon fiber. The carbon fiber is so well done, one can see the individual weave clear as day, and there is so much three dimensional depth to it, unlike the carbon fiber I've seen in some vehicles that looks like a laminated inkjet printout. This is incredibly well done, in my opinion.
I would shy away from the aluminum interior bits. I've had aluminum in two previous vehicles, and no matter how well you treat it with kid gloves, it always looks a mess after the first year with scratches, dents, etc. that will drive you crazy, and make you scratch your head as to how they happened! If I hadn't gone with Donington Grey/Mugello Red, I'd have gone with Long Beach Blue/Aragon Brown. I think both of those color combos are incredible. I love a white car, but they are as difficult to keep looking clean and nice as a dark blue or black vehicle. Sometimes one just wants to go two weeks between a wash without it looking like they've driven through an off road course. I love Silverstone, but being that it has a bluish undertone to it, I, personally, would pair it with Aragon Brown. I don't think the night vision option, at $2k+, is remotely worth it, especially since the good bits are turned off in the USA. In other countries, the fog lights are used as spotlights to illuminate the object detected by the system, so one doesn't keep having to look away from the road at the iDrive screen. It just seems to me that this sort of thing isn't ready for primetime here yet. Also, I don't like how the extra camera in the front grill changes the shape/look of the grill. Something to think about. That's my two cents. Vehicles are a passionate purchase, and they need to be what makes your heart sing, so no one can tell you definitively what you should, or should not get. Go with your instinct/gut, and you'll be pleased in the end that you did! |

well said...dropping night vision. Is Harmon Kardon good enough or need to go with B&O. I just stream music from the iPhone but prefer good bass also.

Trying to finalise the deal and I have two options:
Dealer can try trading a 2015 allocation or wait for 2016. Pricing $1100 over invoice for 2015 or $3500 off for 2016. MSRP $115495 Sale price - $108511...assuming this is $1100 over invoice. 2015 lease he came up with 36 months / 12K/15K miles a year : $1605 for 12K / year with tax and 1670 for 15K 7.25% tax included , first month and plates down. I dint check with him on residual and money factor. Does this sound right or I should wait for 2016 for better lease / residual ? Is this a good deal ? I think there are no changes in 2016... ?

We have Harman Kardon in one of our other BMWs, and it's sufficient, but doesn't compare to the B&O in the X5 M. I listen to a varied collection of music ranging from classical, to country, to dance music, and the clarity and bass of the B&O has been wonderful. In the Harman Kardon, everything seems a bit muddled to me. I stream internet music, use the iPod feature, and listen to SiriusXM. I don't regret paying for the option, and would do so again.

journeyguy, in a previous post, you asked if the number you were given was actually the invoice price, so I'm responding to that post. When I was researching ordering my X5 M, I wanted to know invoice, as well, and I discovered nadaguides.com will provide the MSRP as well as the Invoice price for these vehicles. I know the numbers are accurate, because I'm friendly with the manager of my dealership, and he gave me a printout of the invoice prices when I ordered my X5 M. I hope this helps.

If I order BMW performance parts like black grills, carbon fibre mirror caps and shifter , are these installed at the factory or at the dealership ?
