2018 X5 (go5)
I am deciding if I want to get a new 2017 X5 or wait for a 2018 X5. I have heard rumors that BMW is ending the short lifespan of the current X5 (F15) and will be going to the GO5 for the 2018 model. If that is true, the 2018 will not be an LCI refresh and will be all new. Does anyone have more info on this?

The GO5 is not expected to begin production until October 2018. It will be a 2019 model year and I highly recommend avoiding the first year of production.

there indeed will not be a LCI for F15. At this point, you're either waiting for next generation or buying a 2017 or 2018.
From the E70 experience, you should see some "extras" offered on the F15 final model year to entice buyers to buy the last model year. On the E70, they gave all the M-Sports a HP bump.

yes sir! The M Sport package adds 15 horsepower and 30 pounds-feet of torque to the six-cylinder xDrive35i (for a total of 315 hp), and an extra 40 hp and 30 pounds-feet of torque in the xDrive50i (for 440 hp). http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=604267

Optional package available only in 2013 (last year of E70) with those exact specs you listed. Plus aluminum pedals and black exhaust tips. M Sport was required to add M Performance though. |

I always thought all the M-sports came with the power bump, that is, the M Performance was bundled with M Sport.

Well similarly, you have to click on the adaptive M suspension when you order a Msport line with the F15 as well. You would think it would be standard.

Besides, 2018 is the year the new X3 is due to be out. They won't release the new X5 together with the X3 in the same year.

confused...did the F15 have the first year model issues?
My first year model M3 didn't have any unique issues...my near final model year X5 has the same issues as the models 4 years older. All my issues with BMWs has been endemic to the entire model/powertrain range. The only thing I can think of in recent memory that had early model issues was the N54 fuel pump fiasco, and that took 2-3 years to phase out with the N55 IIRC. Is this the bogeyman of fearful BMW owners?

F15 wasn't exactly a new X5 it was a reincarnation of the E70 or a substantial "facelift" if you wanted to go that far.

The F15 had lots of issues when it was first launched. There were months of thread from people posting they had check engine lights on the drive home after picking up the car.

Getting a CEL on the same day you purchased the car is like losing your virginity and contracting an STD at the same time. It's a bittersweet day.
