Maybe it's the fitment or the fact you can still see the old mesh. Not sure.

It was the flimsy edging that looked cheap. I went up .125 and it was tight. You cant see the honeycomb standing or at ride height that pic is straight ahead down low, prototype.

Installed some new plugs. I noticed at startup, since tuning to stage 2, the idle was a bit rough. Added the NGK 97506 2step colder, gapped them and installed them myself. First time on this X5M. Pretty easy with the right tools. I will add that you should unplug the battery to avoid the scare I put myself through. On the driver side furthest back plug, my ratchet spun and hit the positive battery post. It arc'd on my arm and burnt me a bit, so I pulled my arm away instinctively. The ratchet then sat on the terminal and heated up so much my mechanix gloves melted to the ratchet. I had to get a screwdriver to pull it off, but it melted some wire harness and left bare wires smoking. Also, it was on the spark plug so I thought that might be damaged as well. The ratchet and socket, extensions etc were too hot to handle even with gloves on. Was a crazy embarrassing experience that I'm only sharing because I hope it helps someone else. I spent the afternoon repairing the wires with heat shrink tubing etc. I dodged a bullet as once I got everything back together, the car started right up and ran perfect. I drove around for a bit and put it through the motions, no issues so far!

Well, I've finally been able to get my X5M fully detailed inside and out. And it looks outstanding. I should have taken some pics.

15/15mm spacers on the OEM wheels/ tires at factory height. Puts them pretty flush with the fender.

Michelin pilot sport cup 2

upload pic

Both are Michelin 325/30/21 sized tires. The super sports are 13” wide overall and the Pilot Sport Cup 2’s are 14” wide unmounted (13.8” mounted on the OEM width wheel according to tire rack).

No, they’re the same size as the OEM tires for the 612 wheels: 325/30/21. They just run 1” wider for whatever reason. I’m going to trade a set of 20” BC Forged wheels toward a second set of OEM 612 wheels then send those off to get widened to 11” front and 12.75” rear. Then put these giant cup 2’s on that set and see if they’ll lay out over 14.25” on the wider wheels. Should look mean.

I guess you don't plan on driving on them in the rain? I have two cars with Cup2's in a dry climate but was caught in the rain on both cars and have hydroplaned with both. One is a 991GT3 with tons of aero pushing it down too. Cant imagine a heavy SUV with these tires. Be safe.

Yeah I’m going to see how it goes. Might switch to 355 MP4S once I have widened wheels. Does AWD help at all with hydroplaning?

I looked at those tires but didn't see the fronts in OEM 21" size. Did I miss something or are you using a different front tire?
