50i M Sport - Sport seats or Multi-Contour?
Which is the default for M Sport package on the 50i?
Do I need to specify multi-contour front seats or will they be the default? |

My dealer told me that the sport seats are standard but the multi contour are a N/C option. I had the sport seats in my old X5 and multi contour in my new X5 50i, love the multi contour. Need to tell the dealer to opt for the multi contour.

for free, pick the MC every day of the week. They probably make it a nc option only so those that don't know won't pick them. There is no benefit of the sport seats over the MC, only the other way around. Even beyond this, I would never worry about what the default is, be specific so they get your order right.

Thanks everyone.
My issue isn't which one to get rather which one is default on the M Sport 50i I mean are they really trying to save a couple bucks by duping people that don't know better into the sports seats when they've already paid the upcharge for the multi contour seats that come standard with the 50i? They charge an extra 950 for the multi contour seats on the 35i with M Sport. Seems a bit deceptive to me. Anyway, thanks to this board and the ordering guide I know better. My CA was giving me a bit of grief that sport seats come with the M Sport and multi contour isn't an option. Find it disheartening that I have to educate him on the options. |

I've never had a salesman at any brand that knew the car as well as I did. I'm no expert, but the details are all out there for us to find. yet, the people "trained" to sell them rarely familiarize themselves with every detail the way their job title should indicate... I can't fault them for not memorizing every possible combination, BMW certainly makes that confusing enough.. But I can fault them for their lack of desire or ability to get answers sometimes. And many of them barely know the stuff you can find "in the brochure." |

You want MC seats. They are super cheap and are 10x better than sport. It will add only a few dollars to lease or loan.

MC Seats
Awaiting delivery on '14 X5. Mocha interior was not available with MC seats. I have never experienced them so will never know what I am missing. Debated on getting the black interior with MC seats but liked the mocha with Silver exterior. Will make do with the sport seats.

BMW offers a great finish like Mocha but not on it's (by far) most comfortable and high end seat..And on the premier, best selling SAV in it's line-up... Nice job BMW

Follow-up
It's my understanding that the only difference between a MC seat and a Sport seat is the additional adjustment for the upper back/lower shoulder area. Other than that the seats are the same. Correct me if I am wrong. Thx

I have the sport seats. I actually called the salesperson and the new car manager this week to inquire about the differences in the seats and neither one of them knew the difference or that you could order the 50i with either.
I must admit that I like the sport seats but wish they would "hug" me a little more. The adaptive sport seats in my Carrera are still the best seats I've had. Very disappointing...

adjustable (inflatable) side bolsters adjustable headrest (can manually bend them in like some airline seat headrests) Not sure if there are others but I will say this, the one you mentioned, where you can bend the top half of the seat in or out, is the best function of the seat. That's what lets you really form the seats around your body in a way most seats cannot. |
