Was slated to head up to Bellevue/Redmond today, but the snow this week caused all sorts of schedule hiccups.

It was a two day job. They paint correct and coat on day 1 and day 2 they inspect and polish any high spots, then keep it inside to cure the rest of the day. The 5yr warranty is reassuring but we’ll see how it hilds up. They were super thorough and I’m impressed with their work. They did my ppf and tint previously as well.

https://www.automotivequalitysolutio...plain-english/ At a very high level, it's a coating that bonds to the clear coat and provides an additional layer of protection against the elements, scratching, marring. It's hydrophobic and helps prevent dirt and grime from sticking to it. It's a permanent layer and warrantied for 5 yrs but can last longer and does not require any additional waxing or coatings to maintain gloss or beading. If I knew this stuff existed prior to buying my X5, I would have considered a black car again. You get a warranty number and card in the event the install was done poorly or have a failure in the coating. You can look up your warranty status on their site. I checked out the Optimum forum and they are impressive in their responsiveness if you have any issues with a bad install or coating failure. They are also very stringent on who they have within their installer network and you cannot just buy the stuff from a detail site. It does not replace PPF though, so you would still want to get film applied to areas that could get rock chips. It's pretty expensive, around $1100 for a vehicle our size. It is worth it to me as I park outside and the car is exposed to the elements a lot. I figured I'd probably end up getting 3-4 full exterior details (I don't have a garage I can do a detail in) during the ~5 yrs I plan to own the vehicle, which would come out to over the $1100 cost of the coating. I bought their OTC coating (Optimum Gloss Coat) as well and plan to use it on my wheels. It's got a ~2yr life expectancy and is far cheaper. It would be good for someone who wants to apply a coating at home. There are tons of other options for this as well of course. I just figured I'd stick to the same product line. http://a.co/7drKwop Hope that helps.

You can also get the consumer grade optimum gloss coating for around $100. Very easy to apply and popping results.
