I hold some of my kids toys in it. Some toys that we can't leave the house without. Extra water bottles soccer balls from rolling around etc. I have mine further forward up against the back of the car seat

Never used net in my X5 40e from 2017. Maybe it is useful when having to transport longer items and lower tailgate has to be open.

Thanks - did not know we had this either. Not really sure what we would use it for either though.

Saw this thread and went to look for mine in the F16 and there it was. Hilarious. Wonder if my E70 had one as well?

Kinda big/high though. I dunno if i'll use it like that. I thought it was designed to lay flat on the trunk and secure objects from moving around by hooking to the latching points on rails
I also thought it was designed to go flat like in the F30.
This is where I have it for now while I think what to put in it lol
Why can't you use it flat?

Honestly I haven't tried it because I don't see where it hooks, but I lo have to find a real use for it.

You can clip them on all 4 stainless steel rings? That's what I've been doing

Flat would be way more useful. My F30 had an awesome net that was used flat.

I like how the panel cover hiding the net has a little net on it.

In case anyone is curious, the rectangular opening (next to where the net is stored), is used for holding the emergency triangle. Another EU/UK part requirement that we do not get in the US.

I have a warning triangle along with two hours worth of flares for emergencies.

For those that have been fortunate enough never to be stuck on the side of road to need this stuff, you'll be surprised how useful a warning triangle and flares will cause people to actually give you room especially when in the middle of night.

that little styrofoam box the net was in almost looks like a mini cooler we can use... id hate for melted ice to leak out though, may need to keep it in a ziplock

When you add a hitch, I can attest that this Styrofoam holder will hold your 2" receiver hitch in a hitch bag PERFECTLY and keep it from banging around or squeaking. All my hitch stuff fits in that bag and slides into that spot perfectly (along with a set of jumper cables) so you can have it when you need it on the road.

Found mine! Still in the original packaging! I thought I'd take a look, and sure enough, there it was. I chuckled to myself and put it back. I suppose it'll be there for the next owner to "discover" as well.
