Finding Diesel Fuel Stations Using the Navigation System

Hey All,

I recently purchased and took delivery of a 2015 X5 35d. So far the car is amazing and has exceeded my expectations. I do have one question so far that I feel like people on this forum may be able to answer.

Does anyone know if there is a way to have the navigation system in the 35d show fuel stations that have diesel nearby? When I purchased the car, I was told that when I have the navigation show fuel stations using the POI option that it would only display fuel stations that offer diesel. However, this does not seem to be the case because it shows me all gas stations around me, including ones that do not sell diesel.

I searched for a filter, but could not find anything. It would be great for trips away from home where I am unfamiliar with the area and do not know where the nearest diesel station is. Any information would be greatly appreciated!

Go to BMW Online in your iDrive and connect. Then select nearby gas station prices and in that section I was able to select gas prices for premium only. I did not see anything about diesels though but I wasn't looking for it.

Thank you Kzang! I will check that out tonight. If that works, that will be super helpful.

Here you go! You might have to download the application find fuel price search if you haven't already.

I use the Online search filtered for Diesel. I have it programmed into one of the 8 buttons. Works just like gas buddy and it allows you to set a station as a navigation destination. Works great! Use it all the time.

No, diesel is not available everywhere. Where I live (Southern California) it is rather easy to find one, but I might past 2-3 gas stations before finding one with diesel.

Well you learn something new every day - this is something I had not appreciated about the US. Here in Australia it would be hard to find a station without diesel, but I suppose it comes down to the longer term use of diesel here - not just for trucking and mining industries - but even cars (we've had diesel Peugeots and M-Bs stretching back 30 years or more). Admittedly its only been in the last 10-15 years that diesel use for light vehicles have dramatically increased largely driven by the explosion in the import of European-sourced SUVs and cars.

Interesting. So to clarify, you follow the steps in Kzang's pictures, then programmed it to one of the buttons? If not, can you explain how I can do this?

Kzang - Thank you for the pictures. That is super helpful. I will try that tonight when I am off of work!

When you have the diesel results screen up just choose which of the 8 buttons to put that function on and hold it in til you hear the chime. It's that simple.

Same here in New Jersey

Actually when you tell friends you have a diesel they consider you to be eccentric. "Why would you ever want that, and pay more for it too???"

I used this feature in San Diego last week. First it took me to a Shell that ended up being an ARCO without diesel. Then it took me to a vacant lot that was supposed to be a Shell. Finally, it took five miles through downtown to a Chevron. But it was a Chevron office building south of the port area; no pumps.

My wife was laughing at me the whole time.

Diesel in So Cal is cheaper than regular in many places. In my town in Nor Cal it is more than supreme.

At least with diesel gas being cheaper today than regular 91 octane all my friends think I planned it that way and diesel is great.
