The new RRS is a disappointment in real life.

With these new x5 photos it still looks terrible. I saw the new x5 very briefly in Vancouver, BC in real life. Only for a very short time but it didn't look great either. No presence ... Just bland, like the x3 ... But not as bad as the x1 that is the worst car BMW has right now, for sure.

People that say things like that either can't drive and shouldn't be on the road or are idiots.

You mean to tell me, unless your car behaves and responds like E92 M3 then it's no good? What about all those Kia and Hundai or even Lexus SUVs that are on the road? I'm sure those don't have better throttle response.

Now practice driving so you don't get killed you silly mug.

Those black vertical elements flanking the rear window really suck. That is the worst BMW detail in decades. Other than that it is a fine SAV.

Just walked past an X1 on the street and the back end was so similar to this one. Sad. Hope they get rid of this current crop of designers soon and the new model is not another 7 years away. I do like the X4 and new 4 series a lot though (5's and 6's are great as well) - but the 1 series and X1 (a little bit less the X3) seem almost deliberately ugly/awkward and this has crept into the X5 unfortunately.

(btw - i3 - would love to have a drive to see what it feels like - but it looks ugly as well imo)

I love all the RR sport comments. The new one looks soft like an overgrown Evoque and has anyone ever driven one? Can't speak for the new one, but the original couldn't hold a candle to the E70. It was gorgeous but way too top heavy, too much body roll. With Land Rover's insistence that their cars be off road beasts, that's what they do, I can't imagine the new one handles much better.

Oh, and they're notoriously unreliable.

Interior is great, exterior has way too much going on, current X5 is design simplicity, F15 has too much "happening" up front.

Um FYI, new RRS is a unibody construction with a very optional 2 speed transfer case. Lowered ride height and downsized engines, very much LR attempt to get into the x5 market. This is not the land conquerer of old.

95% of RRS will be seen at grocery stores and shopping malls. Just like any other crossover luxury SUV.

I agree. It's not a total disappointment but it's not worth the premium and the reliability issues.

For those who lease (business lease for me) the terms on the RRS are brutally and quite frankly laughably bad.

Agreed, I know of a low mileage 2014 RR that left its driver stranded.

Did they really need this?

Maybe the warning sticker is just for the Canadian version that's pictured...

Sorry, unless you have experienced it, you can't begin to understand the issue. I had this "feature" on my F10 535 and it was downright dangerous. I would pull out to make a pass, floor it, and literally be able to count "one thousand one, one thousand two" before ANY acceleration happened. The car would then downshift three gears, and accelerate like a ba out of hell.

Part throttle was worse. Same one thousand two before glacial acceleration with only a single gear kick down.

So stop being a troll and discussing things you don't know anything about.

I stumbled upon the new X5 parked outside of the Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver, BC today. It looks pretty good from the front.
Just across the street in front of the Olympic torch, a "private event" was being held which I assume was related since the newly built structure had "THE NEW BMW X5" written on it.

Thanks for posting. Was it black or brown? What's your first impression on the color?

It was black (not sure if jet black or metallic) with saddle brown interior. Great color, IMO, but then again I've always bought black cars.
I don't understand the white inserts on the black X5 I posted the picture of, I really hope it won't go into production like that. Otherwise the front looks good, obviously it has a similar headlight design as the 3/4 series.

I'm sure the car will sell well and the haters will convert.

Thanks. Are you referring the white inlets on the bumber? If yes, they are part of xLine and they are silver matte inlets.

I felt the color is sparking brown but the picture may be deceiving.
