DME Tuning vs RC Chip
I am thinking of installing the Eisenmann muffler & downpipe for my X5M and wanted to either use an RC chip or do a DME tune.
Which one is better for people who have tested either one.

If DME knows what they are doing, it will have an advantage over RC since they can manipulate the ECM for cat delete, increasing boost through the shift, etc. One downside is the ECM has been cracked and the dealer can deny warranty. Another downside is reduced boost at the shift is there for a reason. RC will make all the power pump gas will support and is pnp. Totally depends on your goals. Good luck.

I just want my car to be in the safe zone without me worrying about parts breaking down. What I like about the RC is that I can remove it whenever I want which isn't the same with DME as I need to send my ECM to them.

I agree. The only reason for me to have JB4 is to be able to select maps based on my setup.

Just go JB4, yes if your car has DME flash/tune it will set a permanent fault code and the BMW tech will see it immediately. I have JB4 and catless downpipes, drive the hell out of it, runs mid 11s in 1/4. on 93octane. Best bang for your buck in my opinion.

You should hold off on grabbing the eisenmann's until after you had some time to hear how your car sounds after changing your downpipes. I was also looking into the Eisenmann's, but after getting rid of my cats, my X5M is plenty loud for me, so I'm actually sticking with stock. |
