So you go through the hassle of removing the whole setup just to get your oil changed and routine service?

Oil change is once or twice a year depending on how much you drive..
Removing race chip takes 5 minutes tops.. Removing the air filter cover with 6 screws is what takes the most of your time if you don't use a drill adaptor.
After the cover is removed you have access to two plugs that you unplug and reconnect the original wires. simple as that.

There are tons and I mean tons of owners on the 1 series, 2 series, 3 series and possible 5 series forums that are using the RCU or other aftermarket tunes without any issues. And this is just from a BMW forum only.

It doesn't sound like many members are running the Dinan Stage 1. Any reason why?
I'm considering it or just the mppk.

I would guess the price. I would already have one if it was half the price, but I have a hard time justifying $2500 for more hp in a vehicle that has plenty already.

I have the RC Ultimate on my 2016 X3 35i (and an aFe Power dry air filter). I have it up to the "2" setting (stock is "B") and driving is very spirited when flooring it in Sport+ and with the shifter in D/S mode. Power comes on in a big rush in that mode when floored; otherwise it's pretty smooth. 0-60 in 4.9 seconds using the BMW Laptimer iOS app. Haven't had any CELs. Thought about bumping it up some more, but I'm pretty happy with the performance thus far.

I'm planning on taking in the X3 in for service this week, so I just removed the RC and the X3 feels sluggish, even in Sport+. Definitely makes a huge difference and worth it IMO. If you're interested, hit up Ben at RG Sport Shop r33_RGSport.

1) Dinan Sport (299 it is fairly new) - no warranty. **corrected
2) Racechip (600) - no warranty,
3) Velos (1+k) - no warranty,
4) Dinan Stage 1 - With warranty,
5) Reprogram your ECU (3-4k) - no warranty.

There are other plug ins out there but I don't know their prices .... They too will not have any warranty.

So far, mppk with Racechip is a popular choice among forum members. Good luck with your decision and report back.
I'm curious, why would you guys suggest to put mppk first, while it has worst $/hp ratio?

Anybody familiar with DME Tuning? They're local to me and are promising big numbers.

Dinan Tune

I have an N55 f15 xdrive 35i and I tried to get the dinan tune installed however the tech said the vin is not supported... how is that even possible? Anyone have someone who I can talk to from the Chicagoland area to get the dinan tune? I do not have the m sport package by the way. Thanks!
