''April 2005: BMW N52 V6, 255 hp (2006 BMW 330i)'' author calls n52 a V6 I'm just hoping that's a copy past error and author has a bit more knowledge

''This is also the reason why BMW never officially boost N54/55’s output to over 340 hp (because the block simply can’t take that much without risking its structural integrity)''. and ''while the previous N54/55 have limited potential which prevents them from taking higher loads''

Stopped reading after that...

I picked up the link from the F30 board. If one does a random search engine for N55 versus B58 you will find plenty of info, including on BMW Blog. Note that they tend to have plenty of typos themselves.

Any loyal BMW enthusiast is aware that BMW has never produced a V6. Maybe it was a typo?

I am looking forward to the weight savings on the new platform. it should be a bit more peppy with the B58 and MPPK.

How do we know for sure that MPPK will be a thing? As opposed to just being “baked in” as a stock spec.

That's a really good question. I doesn't look like they have launched a MPPK for the b58tu yet, although there is one for the B58. I couldn't find any info on the difference between B58tu and B58.

BMW appaears to keep expanding their M Performance line of vehicles (M240i, M550i, X3 M40i, X4 M40i) so maybe we will see a X5 M40i? .

Edit: For the U.S. market.

It will be both X5 M50D and X5 M50i

So far there is MPPSK which should trickle down to X5.

With weight savings of +/- 200 lbs and 355hp+ for MPPK, should be a fun vehicle, also 22" wheel option will be neat.

G05 looks fresher than F15. I am sure the day it comes out all F15 owners will feel that they drive a discontinued model. At least I will.

I’m generally a late adopter and usually wait until at least 1 year after a new gen comes out before considering it. If I do end up deciding on a G05, I intend to go with a M-Sport which means I’ll have to wait a year anyhow.

Don't bash it because you'll be driving one before you know it.

It actually looks very promising. A bit cayenne-ish.

Agreed. I said the same about the F15 when it came out, and I was so happy to hav an E70. Now, I am in the process of ordering a F85 so clearly I changed my mind. Ironically, my dislike was due to the overstated kidney grill. These things tend to grow on you.

a diesel V8 might be intriguing for me

Agreed, can't tell too much from camo pics - will have to wait until summer for official release pics from car shows. I think it'll look great, every iteration of the X5 has been good IMO - I just hope they decide to make some features standard as they should be on a $75k car like Sirius XM, harmon kardon included, blind spot detectors etc.

Add remote start to that list. Even if it's not standard it needs to be an option and not require you to sacrifice a key to leave in the car.

All the "blind spot detectors", etc are still options on the new 5er. Doubt it will be any different for the G05.
