Commercial: BMW X5 Stops Train and Biker Gang in Their Tracks (The Boss is Back)

COMMENTS

BMW has been advertising the 2014 F15 X5 with the tagline "The Boss is Back" (seen at the end of the second ad below) and the latest commercial coming out of Japan humorously shows just how boss the new X5 is -- stopping a tough biker gang and a train dead in their tracks. The boss X5 is of course given the right of way.

Full launch film for BMW X5.

I like it! Now if only I can get other cars on my tough commute to comply as well that would be enough for me to change my F82 order!

i swear bmw is thinking like Mercedes C class current model, aggressive front with a horrible behind. The 2015 model however looked perfect.

BMW put your thinking cap back on damn it.

Saw one on the road today. Over styled and uglier than last generation.

For some reason... Luxury suv + biker gang reminds me of the range rover vs biker gang incident.

Maybe this commercial is BMW's response to future biker gang incidents

Looks good... But I would still take a CPO'd if I could get one of the older gen. Not feeling the ass, but loving the commercials. I am sure after seeing the X5 on the road enough I will be forced to fall in love with it. Until that moment occurs, I miss the older generation.

Agree, that's the first thing I though of when I saw this. Surprised such a marketing decision was made, think it's in poor taste. Maybe because its shown in Japan, the connection wouldn't be made?

They do this to leave room for the LCI.. a restyled rear will happen with the facelift. We always hate on the new version of our cars until we see an msport or lci.

Keep looking and you will out grow the opinion. I felt the same when I first saw the pics and side by side comparison. But trust me, I now own 2014 X5, and i feel E70 is obselete in looks every time I find them on streets.

The new model has an interesting character in looks and you will appreciate them when you see it in person.

My only concern, however, is that BMW making X1,X3 and upcoming X4 with similar rear designs.

I love looking at the front end and the interior of mine. But, just like you, I just can't get used to the side and especially the rear either.

Nice to see someone who's got one giving an honest opinion. I'm the same - hated it at first , liked it a lot more when I saw a white m sport version in the shop (with black trim) - even though I don't like e70 in white and mine is black. The rear looked much better than pics but still felt a bit off. I saw one on the street for the first time the other day - a brown one like in the advertisement and was very underwhelmed. I almost walked by and didn't realise. The interior looked first class even from a glance and the front looked fresh and different but the back is far too x3, x1. Really not as nice as the E70 broader square stance. Would be a big design change with LCI to tidy it up.

el_do, I initially had the same point of view as you...I didn't like the rear design...but once you start looking at the options of how else they could have done it, you come to realize that they have actually done a decent job.
The F15 is a bit bigger than the previous Gen and the rear design reflects that point...the mistake, Mercedes has done on its ML. The car is lifted up in front (design wise) but has failed to do so at the rear...the taillights are "crying" or as if they are "melting" if you will...
I agree that BMW has proportionately a smaller rear taillights compared to the size, but harmonizing the "lift-up" of the design was very good IMO...I just saw one passing me by in the highway yesterday, he came behind me at a speed of approx. 150km (100miles) and when I had to pull right and as he was passing...I viewed the car's front and back almost simultaneously, and I must say, it is not that bad...it works! ...my 2 cents...
