Sounds like leaf or paper fluttering under drivers door

Hi All

I have a weird one in terms of problem. My x5 (2015) produces a fluttering sound of paper or leaf just below drivers door when speed is above 40 mph.

Any ideas what the sound could be?

For the older members the sound is of the type a bike wheel would make when you stuck a straw in it.

Thanks

Are all your windows/sunroof open or close when hearing the sound?

Did you bend over and look underneath to see if anything out of the ordinary?

Make sure your rubber jack (aka "lift") pads are pushed up into place correctly and securely. If they fall out or are on their way of falling out..it can/may create sounds & noises as air passes over the empty or open cavity.

This was an issue discovered back during the e31/e36/e38/e39 era:

Thanks for the responses. I will have a look under the vehicle and get back to you.

The noise is there with windows and sunroof shut.

It only starts to happen when I push the vehicle over 40mph.

I drove round trip of 350miles this week at speeds over 70mph. The x5 handles it beautiful but the sound is def there.

At times it sounds like coins rattling in a jar!
