35i Brakes Upgrade with 50i

Happy Monday.

About 6 months ago I got my hands on some 50i brakes from a local seller that I powder coated semi-gloss black and finally got around installing over this weekend. The whole job took me approximately 5 hours and was a very straightforward direct fit. All bolts, brake shoes, caliper carriers, etc. went in without a snag. You don’t even need to change out dust shields from 35i to 50i as they are the same on both cars.

I still need to get in to code the brakes, but the feel and look of them is already if not better, then the same. Btw, if somebody around here can do the coding remotely, let me know. I have the cable/laptop, but no software. Otherwise my plan is to pay 1hr to my dealer.

Here are some photos to demonstrate rotor size difference starting with the fronts and then rears. Note the size relative to the dust shields. The last one is on the 20" front wheel.

We’ve had rain most of the week, so my apologies for dirty pictures.

Thank you. The best part about it is the direct fit. None of the rear drums non-compatibility issues like on F30 platform.
