F15 X5 Tune Thread

Since we have so many great tunes and so much feedback in hidden/random places, I decided to make a thread to keep it all in one place for new owners to search easily like I did for the coding thread. I would like to thank everyone for their efforts, discussions, tests, and installs thus far. So many people would be lost without all of these resources. Let's just start putting things together and discuss everything from installs to tune settings for particular engines and chips. PM me any helpful info and I will add it to the OP. I'm open as I was in the coding thread to all suggestions at modifying this accordingly. Please PM me all the right installation pages because I don't have time right now to search for all of them. I know the X5 diesel thread has a lot, but I would prefer a single organized installation page or pdf as those done below. As for the discussion purposes, let's just start with this format:

1) Your vehicle year and engine
2) Your tune chip
3) Your chip settings
4) Any other info you would like to add that you think is helpful from links, 0-60 times, etc

Thanks everyone!

Sensor Types (thanks r33): http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...8&postcount=81. The newer cars including our F15/F16 have the sensors pictured on the left (BMS: Type B, RC: 8720, AFE: Sensor 2). Make sure you get the harness that is correct for your sensor type or else you will have a Drivetrain Malfunction because they sensors will not fit/touch correctly.

RaceChip Torx Screw Screwdriver Size = T10

Installation Guides:
F15 50i:
RaceChip TB Ultimate: http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...&postcount=100 (install time: 20-30 minutes)

BMS Stage 1: http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1033033 (install time: 1-3 minutes)

F15 35i:
RaceChip TB Ultimate: http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1077731 (install time: 3-5 minutes)

BMS Stage 1: http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=964186 (install time: 3-5 minutes)

Stock Chip Settings:
RaceChip TB Ultimate for F15 X5 50i and 35i: S1=1 S2=B

RaceChip CR Ultimate for F15 X5 35d/30d: S1=0 S2=E

RaceChip Optimal Performance Settings for Diesel Engines (thanks Trojanlaw): This only apply to diesel engines.
Detailed Information: http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...1&postcount=24
Picture of the Information from RaceChip Diesel Manual: http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho...1&postcount=26
The consensus seems that safest increased setting is S1=2 S2=E, while 42pilot has found and tested that S1=3 S2=0 is the best balance for power/stability

RaceChip Optimal Performance Settings for Petrol Engines: The best choice right now is S1=1 S2=D for the 50i. The 35i has varying tested numbers. I would start small. S1 does nothing for petrol users so leave it alone.

Comparisons:
RaceChip vs BMS for F15 X5 35d: http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1054519

0-60 info:
RaceChip CR Ultimate for F15 X5 30d: http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1043191

Dyno Runs:
RaceChip CR Ultimate for F15 X5 35d: http://f15.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1073946 (page 2 for dyno results)

1) 2014 F15 X5 50i
2) RaceChip TB Ultimate
3) S1=1 S2=C (currently)
4) I will be upgrading to S2=D soon to test and will update with 0-60 once I get my car back and the OBD2 scanlink tool with both Torque and DashCommand apps.

I don't belong here, but what the heck. plus opasha is good people.

1) 2013 F25 X3 35i M-Sport
2) Burger Tuning JB3 Stage 1
3) Factory Setting Map 7
4) Removed chip due to "Drive Train Malfunction" coming on twice a week, Terry helped with troubleshooting but didn't work, installer (ACM in NJ) couldn't fix the problem either. I would buy this again in a heartbeat!!! Next Bimmer most likely

0-60 5 seconds flat

Clips of the performance:

wow you hit 5 seconds on 35i engine with just Stage I tune? That's awesome. So you have Range Rover Sport SuperCharged straight line speed at $20,000 less.

Crashnbrn5 , you should claim that error to a BMW.
I had that error message on my F10 528 before, after I mentioned that to BMW, they replaced the MAP sensor and it never happened again since. Of course I didn't mention about the tune.

hmmm, but the car worked flawlessly when I removed it, never a problem and now I have 30k miles, the chip was installed at 2k miles. Well now I know for next time what to do. I believe you bottom line...

Great idea Opasha!

2015 X5 35d
Racechip CR ultimate
S2=E S1=2
I installed the chip with these settings from day one based on the advice posted by others on the forum. I would like to try a setting that will give me better acceleration at highway speeds.

Go for S1=3 and report back . I think another member is going to try it. I'm going to try S2=D and see how it goes once I get my car back.

1.) Living Room Couch ( 2015 F16 X6 50 awaiting release to carrier)
2.) BMS JB+ N63tu stage 1
3.) 12 noon setting
4.) really feeling the butt dyno as I watch the CFP (Ohio state vs Oregon). Need to hook up a sprintbooster to cut down the remote lag!

2015 X5 35d
Racechip CR ultimate
S2=E S1=2

Also installed at these settings per recommendations. Loving it so far, can't say anything more since it has been well covered about the added power through the dyno runs provided by Opplock1.

Xdrive 35i M-Sport S1=1/S2=3 letting car adapt at 3 since saturday, can hear turbos now and then, very racy feel. Will report back if other modes are acceptably smooth (AKA if wife complains during the week )

P.S. What hardware (ODB Bluetooth?) & software do I need to buy to gauge my 0-60 times?

Very nice . This is what I bought today: http://www.amazon.com/ScanTool-42720...link+bluetooth. You will need either Torque App or DashCommand in your phone app stores. Both are like $5-10 I think. I'm going to test both to see, which I like. paicapo used Torque and said it was accurate. TShoot has used both on his 535i x-drive and like DashCommand more.

I ordered it so we can see 0-60 improvements across all engine types. Let me know which app you prefer. I'm pretty sure you will be getting yours first as I am in the middle of the pacific

True, but it won't matter since I don't have my car back until (hopefully) Saturday. So Amazon Prime two day free shipping has no effect for me, lol. Also, glad you got it so we can at least compare consistency among different engines since now we know our base for RaceChip settings holds true thanks to Opplock1's dyno results .
