Loud intake noise on X35d

I just had my entire fuel system replaced under warranty due to a damaged high pressure fuel pump which subsequently led to "metal" pieces caught in the injectors. Everything was replace from lines to the tank itself.

When the X5 was returned I thought I noticed the engine being louder than before it was in the shop. It sounds like a loud sucking noise (I know- jokes here please) similar to the noise my Vacuum cleaner makes. The acceleration seems fine but I swear it sounds different.

Is the sound normal or is something not right with the engine?

Make sure the service guys closed the air intake filter cover correctly. If that is loose then it will make a louder engine noise.

Agreed, something's not right. Pop the hood and check the intake routing and make sure its all snug.

thank you

I poked around and found the housing for the filter was open, broken or missing clip on one side

Good call and thanks
