Roflol!

OP. Lucky you

If I had got the insurance it would have been a waste of money since I'm still on my original tires and wheels.

I had two nails in both of my rear tires & I had a blow on my right front tire so when it was bought in the technician noticed the nails in the rear tires so my dealer put in a claim for all three tires and cna approved them. They also approved a 4 wheel alignment too which was a first for me didn't know they covered it!

I always thought it was a waste of money myself. But my salesperson at the time when I leased my F10 550 who is also a good friend of mine really pushed the tire & rim package on me. Telling me the vehicle has low profile tires with 19inch rims he sees the tires bubble & the rims bent all the time it's worth it especially is NYC. I took his word on it and it was worth every penny then & it's worth every penny on the X5! This is my first claim and it just paid for itself plus more!

The package that I purchased this time is from cna which is a 3rd party insurance with 0 deductible. I'm pretty sure you can add it after the fact cause they seem to also insure cpo BMW's too.

Only really worth it if you live in the city or someplace that has generally horrendous roads and/or unavoidable potholes. I'm likely giving myself the jinx here but I've driven performance cars with low profile wheels for a decade plus in the 'burbs and have yet to hit a pot hole bad enough to blow out a tire or bend a wheel. Most are avoidable.

If they didn't make money on the insurance they wouldn't be selling it.

agreed. Biggest risk to most I imagine are picking up nails in residential construction areas or hitting road debris. Both very rare in urban areas.

I too have never hit potholes where it busted up my tires. If it did, I would be more worried about my suspension than anything.

I live in LA and I can miss potholes most of the time - I've been caught out twice in 5 years by unavoidable ones - the wife in the other hand - not so much...

I've looked online though and see a lot of companies promoting their insurance packages but there doesn't seem to be a way to buy it- if anyone has any links and can help with that it'd be appreciated

Really did not care to get the tire and rim package. Only when did I did get blow outs twice in a row did I wish I did only that I was in the middle of nowhere so it didn't really matter since I had to buy a tire where ever I was.

I did get the windshield coverage. Not sure of that was worth it. I mean my windshield is really pitted but no cracks *knock on wood* and if I get it replaced I'll worry about the fact it's not a factory installed item anymore and I need to spend more money to get it retinted as well.
