Brown mark behind HUD screen

Yesterday when I got into my car, after it sat out in the 90+ temps for the morning, there was a brown streak on the bottom right corner behind the HUD screen, about an 1" up and 1" in from the side. There were no smudges/visible damage on the screen, and the mark persisted for the next few hours.

This morning, getting into the car after it sitting in cooler weather, the smudge is gone, will test again this afternoon after the warm weather returns, but was wondering if anyone else has had an issue like this before.

Just for info...that's not the HUD screen. That's the iDrive screen. You'll want to use the right reference if you talk to a dealer about it so as not to confuse them.

I've never seen this in my car but it looks to be symptomatic of a screen defect. Probably worth taking it to a dealer for replacement if it continues.

As the owner of an X5 and a new born, my recommendation is to keep the ass side of the child away from the screen. Brown marks solved?! In all seriousness though, discoloration from heat is a common issue on LCDs but I haven't had any issue with this in Texas...at least not yet. A good point of the matter is to know what the display tech is for the iDrive.

Good to hear you got it replaced. That would bother me too.
